Four Hours in San Diego

My daughter will be attending a 4-hour master class at SDSU. I'll be dropping her off at the campus, then will have 4 hours to spend on my own. The Mission is high on my list to visit. How much time should I allow there? Any ideas on how to spend the rest of the time? I took my son to several of the Balboa Park museums a few years ago. I haven't had a chance to look up what exhibits are there now that might be interesting, so any information on current exhibits would be great.

I also see that there is an art festival in Old Town that weekend, which we'll probably see after I pick her up in the afternoon.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

How about the Midway tour?

I could easily spend the entire 4 hours at Balboa Park, have a nice lunch, stroll, see some museums, browse a few museum shops...

Agree with both posts above me. Or drive up to Del Mar then drive back down the coast stopping in La Jolla Cove, etc all the way to Cabrillo Monument. Too many choices...

San Diego Mission de Alcala is not far from SDSU. An hour would be plenty time, IMO.

Here's the link to the museums in Balboa Park. The Museum of Art has a Toulouse-Lautrec exhibit.

You might split your time between the Mission and Marston House, which we enjoyed on our last visit to San Diego.

Located in the NW corner of Balboa Park, Marston House was the gathering place for prominent San Diego citizens in the early 20th Century. We enjoyed touring the house and gardens and learning about San Diego wheelers and dealers of a century ago.
