Fort Scott, KS

I will be in Fort Scott, Kansas for the air show this weekend. Any recomendations for someplace nice (or fun) for supper on Saturday?

LOL Keith, I only opened this because I thought to myself, Wow! There's a response to a question about Fort Scott, Kansas!

Have a good time~

Thanks Jocelyn. I did have a good time - was particularly impressed by the National Cemetery.

Found a restaurant worth mentioning: Main Street Chop House and Barbque, a small restaurant located in Fort Scott's historic old downtown. It isn't fancy, but the food is quite good.

On the drive home I got to thinking about how hard it can be to find someplace interesting to eat in the small towns across Kansas, so I've started a web page for them: http://www.mightymac.org/kansas/

Not a lot there yet, but there will be more in time.

What a great idea, Keith! I have lots of family in KS, and I've eaten at a few interesting Amish places around Yoder (a little NW of Wichita) but I don't remember names or exact locations. I'll pay more attention next time I'm up there.

bbqboy, I think there are some hidden gems in the Kansas Explorer's site, but I have a hard time navigating it.

I've never visited the Plainsfolk.com site. Will give it a look.

Thanks!

Keith
