Fort Riley Museums

I'm making a road trip in mid-June which will include a part of one day at Fort Riley, Kansas. There are several military museums on post and I am particularly interested in one or more of them that will emphasize Fort Riley's history in the decade or two before, during, and after the Civil War. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Construction of Fort Riley began in 1853, so you the history will begin a litle latter than you are looking at.

The U. S. Cavalry Museum, Fort Riley Regimental Museum & Constabulary Museum are in two building next to each other. The will have most of what you are looking for, and aren;t that large.

You will also want to the First Territorial Capitol, which is a few miles farther north but still on the post. This is the place where the first Kansas territorial legislature convened for 5 days in July 1855.
