65 year old couple looking for inexpensive lodging with cooking facilities for 10 days late Feb. 2015.
Will have car so not necessary to have beachfront. All we want is clean and safe and to enjoy hopefully warm weather and swimming. I say Fort Myers or south of there because I want good chance for beach weather.

The word "inexpensive" does not go in a post about south Florida in February, unless your idea of "inexpensive" is a lot different from mine. How about a price -- something around $2000 for the 10 nights?

My daughter stayed at Silver Sands Villas, Fort Myers Beach several times and we visited every day. It's across the road from the beach. It's old Florida with small villas each with their own kitchen. There is also a nice pool. The location is great as you can walk to restaurants in Times Square, etc.

You might be able to rent a house or condo for the whole month for $3000. The shorter the rental, the higher the nightly price.

By the way, warrsher, what did you end up finding and doing when you asked this same question 2 years ago? Did you make it to SW Florida then? How did that work out for you?
