Fort Lauderdale to Miami

I am travelling with family from Fort Lauderdale Airport to the Port of Miami to catch a cruise. Does anyone have any suggestions for low priced transporation?

The cruiseline I know offers a shuttle for $20/person; however I am not sure how this compares to what a taxi would cost for five people?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Seems like a reasonable price to me. Maybe the shuttle company would cut you a deal since you have 5 people?

It's about 45 miles and I don't think you could get 5 people w/ luggage in one taxi.

How about super shuttle. There is also a train from Ft Laudedale to Miami Airpot, then you can take a taxi to the port.

Take the shuttle...they arent going to get luggage for 5 in the cab plus the ride is about 70 bucks. I live in Fort Lauderdale and can attest to the cost.

I have to get from Miami airport to Fort Lauderdale Airport where I will catch a flight the following morning.
What is the least expensive way to do this? I looked at the airport site and couldn't see any mention of a shuttle between the two airports.
Thanks.

The cheapest way between the airports is probably the train:

but that may not be the most convenient. My parents use a shuttle driver they know down there to get them from FLL to the Miami cruise port, and I think it costs them $50 total, probably about the cost of a taxi.

We are renting a mini van for the five of us so that we have ample room for the luggage and can take the day to sight see. I got the van from Enterprise from Enterprise for $55 using a code that requires us to use American Express. We will not have to pay a drop off fee. The office is very close to the port and they have a shuttle.

As a general rule there are no drop off fees for cars rented in one Florida city and dropped off in another regardless of agency used.

Does the train go from one of the terminals, or is there a long distance at each airport between the station and the terminal?
It is certainly reasonable.

Looks like you have to take a shuttle bus at each end between the train station and the airport. Go back to the link above and click on the airport station names. Sounds like it could be a pain if you have luggage...but it probably would be the cheapest way.

Thanks Andrew. I just couldn't quite work it out. I'm thinking about our South America trip (Miami is the airport to which we return at the end of the trip, but we are going from FLL to LAX the following day.

You're staying at a hotel in Miami after you fly in, then flying home out of FLL next day? In that case, maybe the hotel shuttle can drop you at the Miami airport train station(?) and that would at least save you one connection - but I don't know the rest of your details. If it's too complicated, just take a shuttle to FLL, it's probably only $50, not too bad for two people.

Tri-County Express will shuttle you between airports, and will also pick up/drop off at hotels.
