For women--best place to buy bathing suits

Hi ladies. Where (both stores and online) are your favorite places to buy figure-enhancing bathing suits? Selection-wise and figure-flattering features. Thanks.

Anne, I like Carol Wior suits. She's at carolwior.com, and can also be found in better department stores, and some of her suits are in Spiegel and J.C. Penney catalogs. Whatever your size, once you wear her suits, none other will do, IMO. They are made so much better, are so much more flattering for a woman than most.

I like the ones in Victoria Secrets, but I guess it depends upon one's figure. ((a)) ((b))

I know Water Water Everywhere has a huge selection. They have suites that suck in your belly while also looking sexy. Not sure your age, but they have a suite in there for everyone.

Lands End has the best suits. I've been buying them for years and have never been disappointed.

Lands End. After years of years of hating to shop and buy for suits, I discovered LE. I now have at least 15 suits and love them all. There are suits for all shapes and sizes and the quality is outstanding.

I admit that I buy mine at Ross early in the spring (e.g. April). They usually cost 14.99 and often have the manufacturer's tag for $80+ still on them. Kohl's is also good, because they have lots of half price sales.

BarbaraS and gracieb, my problem with Lands End was the inconsistent sizing. A size 14 one time would not equal a size 14 next time. The customer service rep explained that they have different manufacturers for their suits, hence the difference in sizing. The suits were great quality, but my sister and I found ourselves sending them back for being too small, too large, too short, yadda yadda. With Carol Wior's, the size always runs the same, and I love her construction. But I know Lands End has a great selection of really beautiful ones.

:-" Frederick's of Hollywood?

I still go to Omar the Tent Maker.

I've had good luck with some styles of Victoria's Secret (high waist styles...no floss bikinis here) and also with Land's End. I prefer lines that offer the suits as separates, as that way I can get the right size for each half. J Crew also has nice suits, but IMO they're a little pricy.

Here's another recommendation for Lands End.

And yet another recommendation for Lands End - I have bought several suits from them.

I also buy mine at Ross. I like Speedo swimsuits and I can get them there at quite a discount

anneofingleside Jul 19th, 2004 10:43 PM

Thanks, ladies. I will check out all your recommendations.

bonniebroad Jul 20th, 2004 03:25 AM

enjoylife, I believe it's Costco (I get confused here - I also belong to BJ's) where you can usually get Speedo's for $20.00. A relative loves those.

I love Miraclesuits but can't always find the size, style or color I want in the stores so have purchased quite a few from cyberswim.com. I find the sizes are pretty consistent and the selection is huge.

Burdines. I guess they're not outside of Florida, are they? Florida always has a great selection of suits in all stores. We shop for suits all year round.

chicgeek Sep 1st, 2004 06:56 PM

I have bought all my suits for the last few years at cyberswim.com. I only wear Miraclesuits (they
are a miracle!), and cyberswim has the largest selection anywear.

I also buy at Ross. Love getting swimsuits for $20 or less. Plus, the styles change so often that it doesn't make sense to spend a lot on something you won't wear every week (even those of us who live in Hawaii!).

I got one out of a Title 9 catalog three years ago and I still LOVE it! I hated shopping for suits and will probably always go back there. They have bikinis but they are sporty, cover a little more, and are comfortable.
