For those who ride the T in Boston...check this out!

This story appeared in the Boston Globe this morning:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/mas...rain_rolls_on/

This is why I drive to work!

Sounds like the person was okay though.

Some of the comments on that story are revolting. "So what if a guy might be dying, what about the impact on the thousands of people trying to get to work?" Migod.

I don't understand this comment. If you collapse while driving in your car, wouldn't the outcome be worse?

<sarcasm on> As a daily commuter on the T, this is exactly what I expect, get me there on time, health and safety be damned!</sarcasm off>
;-)

Seriously, what disturbed me more about this situation was that the crew made the observation from their vantage point (which was no where near the guy) that he was a "drunk" passed out, albeit a drunk in a suit and trench coat carrying a laptop during rush hour.

But the EMTs said his condition was minor, which usually means drunk.

I posted this when I read it because it seemed to me outrageous in so many ways. I am happy to hear that the person is okay.

"This is why I drive to work."

Add me to the confused ones who wonder how driving avoids such horrible problems. Frankly I think driving results in many more major "tragedies" than this isolated incident.

"Minor" could also be hypoglycemic, passed out from the flu (which I have seen on the train before), from giving blood (ditto) or hit over the head by a thug (sarcasm). It was never confirmed in the local press that I saw that he was drunk.
