for the destination spa experts
if you were going to pick one spa to spend a glorious week of pampering and relaxing at, would you choose Golden Door or Canyon Ranch, or somewhere else. let's just say money was no object (though it is, but i can start saving!) and the location (in the U.S.) could be anywhere.......

For me, it would be the Four Seasons on the Big Island - (again).

Actually, my friends and I were debating about Canyon Ranch and Miraval for our trip next week. We ended up deciding to return to Red Mountain in Utah instead. I do not mind paying for luxury, but I also hate to waste it. I just could not justify the $1000 per night per person rate at Canyon Ranch that was the going rate for our dates. Miraval was less, but still high. Red Mountain is beautiful and we do not feel like we are missing out or settling at all...AND the price is right and allows for more travels:)

anyone been to Lake Austin Spa and Resort in Austin TX? just got a brochure in the mail and it looks terrific: so many spa treatments to choose from you'd need a month to try them all.........
and while i'm galloping all over the map here, someone at work mentioned the Cloister on Sea Island, GA. anyone ever gone there and used the spa? thanks! |
I went to Lake Austin Spa and Resort a couple of years ago prior to their big remodel. It was nice. Decent food, but pretty skimpy portions as I recall. I was always hungry. Lots to do. Many things on the itineray from which to choose: cooking classes, exercise, guest speakers, astronomy lectures. Pretty guestrooms decorated sort of in a country theme. It's right on Lake Austin so the views are nice. Very expensive... it seems that I spent $1500 for a single room for 3 nights, which included all meals, activities and 2 or 3 spa treatments.
It always gets excellent ratings on whatever groups rate destination spas... Write again if you have more questions. |
