For Jan 06 need US warm resort
 

Have a great friend who normally goes to one of the islands (generally all inclusive) in very early 60's. Would like to try a US resort that is warm and fun with maybe sightseeing in vicinity etc. I for example recommended the Rancho de los Cabelleros in Arizona. I loved the place this year--my husband the golf. Neither are really golfers and she thought maybe it sounded too much like a resort ranch. Inever even saw a horse when I was there. There have to be some GREAT places out there--you in the know could recommend. Let me know and thanks in advance. H

Reeder, honestly no locale in the US except for Hawaii has guaranteed warm weather in January.

What is your idea of warm?

Palm Springs maybe? It MAY get into the low 70s during the day, but will be chilly at night.

The only places in the US where it's likely to be warm in Jan. is southern Fla. where there are a number of resorts or possibly southern Cal. (maybe San Diego?) Neither option will have the ambiance of the Caribbean. Mexico might be a nice option depending on where these folks are from.

Great golf on Kauai, lot's to do, usually good weather, warm even if it is raining, and you won't get arrested if one of your golf balls hits a chicken.

Highs around 80, lows around 70.

The biggest problem with Southern California (Palm Springs, San Diego, etc) is that January is one the rainy months. It is also very unpredictable, one year January can be very dry or it can be like last year where we received record amounts of rain. Even Palm Springs, which usually gets an inch or rain in January, received almost 5 inches. The weather in the desert would be warm however, the average high for San Diego (near the coast) in Jan is 65 F.
I think Florida would be a better choice.

What abour Arizona? Anyone know the weather there in January. I know they won't want Las Vegas but are there any resorts in this state that would be recommedndable? H

Arizona and Nevada are in the desert Southwest, sure, but it still cools down in winter in the desert. Look for highs to usually be in the 60s, with lows into the 40s and even to the high 30s. You want a better shot at hot? Hawai'i or southernmost Florida.

Wow. Maybe warm is just "different" to me and it could be, but I used to go to Bullhead City AZ in winter and can't say I ever felt cold except inside a casino.

The night temps do go down but it is still so warm in the daytime hours that people would laugh at me for walking anywhere.
