For anyone who has rented a Jeep Wrangler--

I know this may seem like a strange question, but if you have rented a Jeep Wrangler, can you tell me if the Jeep you got was a manual or an automatic transmission? I was interested in renting one on upcoming trip but can't drive a manual and can't seem to find the information as to whether the usual rental agencies rent auto or manual on the rental car sites.

I have never encountered manual transmissions in any cars rented in the USA-obviously abroad is a different story.( I did rent a Jeep on Maui a few years ago,and it was automatic)The car company should be able to provide that info very easily, your best bet is to call the location directly, not just the #800 number

Highly doubtful a rental compnay would rent manuals - the gears would be stripped so fast due to inexperienced drivers they'd lose a lot of $$.

As the others have said, this would be unusual. The rental agents will tell you if there is a possibility of manual trans.

We rented a Jeep Wrangler on Lanai, Hawaii a couple of years ago and it was an automatic. I would not think they would have any with manual transmissions.

We have rented a Jeep in Michigan on the sand dunes (Silver Lake) Mears area.
And once in Cozumel. They were automatic.

thanks, I figured they would be automatic, but was just looking to get others experiences.
