To spend $500 - $1000 dollars on a meal for two is to me obscene when people are dying of starvation!

You are entitled to your opinion. People spend thousands of dollars on many things I never would. Priorities, interests, choices and all of that.

People spend more money than necessary on lots of things: cars, clothing, TRAVEL, gambling...the list goes on and on.

For all you know, the OP could have just donated twice that much to charity.

Coldplay: Until you give ALL (repeat: ALL) your money, property, and assets to your beloved poor, keep your self-righteous, holier than thou BS to yourself. No hard-working taxpayer wants to hear it.

As far as restaurants in Las Vegas go, my wife and I have had excellent meals at Mon Ami Gabi (for lunch) and the Ranch Steakhouse at Binions downtown for dinner. The food at Binions is superb and the service is impeccable. If you go there, be sure to ask for a table by the window so you can see the entire Las Vegas Valley. At night, the lights are an exciting spectacle.

Also, I think you are missing out on part of the Vegas experience of abundance by not going to a buffet at least once. My favorite is the one at the Bellagio.

Enjoy your trip.

Definitely go to Lotus of Siam. It's one of the best Thai restaurants in the USA.
