When we were in Grand Cayman we ate at Casanova's and we had the most unbelievable dinner. We have never been able to find that good of Italian again.

Colleagues of mine and I always reminisce about a place we went to while on business about 40 miles NW of Chamonix , France. It was on the side of the road between the hotel and work and randomly decided to try it one day. Back in 2000, pre Euro, a 7 course meal with several bottles of wine ran us about $25US each. The food was amazing, we ate for 3 hours, and couldn't believe the price. We kept thinking the meal was over and they kept bringing out more food. Dessert included regular dessert, followed by a cheese cart, followed by a chocolate cart!

...just 2 weeks ago, for lunch at the Deer Lodge in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada....we were too early for dinner and it was exquisite....prawns in red curry sauce with basmati rice and cashews, caesar salad, and homemade ice cream that was to die for, we paid dearly for it, but it was superb, really stands out....

Best day of my life at 40.5: first (only so far) trip to SF and wine country; DH's local cousin got us tasting & lunch at Joseph Phelps winery. The lunch was on the patio and it was just the three of us (besides the employees, just us 3 ALL DAY). I'd never been educated on wine and the suggestion to eat a strawberry, then sip 'this' wine, then a bite of yellow watermelon, then sip 'that' wine, then the sandwiches, the salads, the chocolate. The scenery, the sunshine, the company, the fact that the folks at Phelps seemed really pleased we were there ... I am hoping one day this will be topped, but if it isn't, I'll die a happy gal.

Trattoria Omero in the hills outside of Florence. I was there with a girl friend and our private tour guide had recommended it to us. We drove through these really narrow winding streets to get there. It was a weekday evening, but the atmosphere was a big party and the best part was that we were the only tourists there. The food and wine were spectacular and it was so good and so much fun we went back the next night, when they treated us like regulars.

The Flagstaff House in Boulder, CO was speciacular- the view!! The doors slide open to bring the outside in- we had cocktails on the patio- with deer grazing 5 feet away. The food was incredible. the service was impeccable. We were a large group- 12 people, mostly 20-year-olds, celebrating my sisters's graduation, and were treated with respect and curtasy. A WONDERFUL experience!

Korean bbq in Manhattan a few blocks east of Macy's: sliced beef cooked tabletop by the waitstaff with more than a dozen accompanying condiments and small plates, great in the middle of winter!

Chez Panisse Cafe Oct 2002;a plate of local tomatoes, thinly sliced and simply dressed. I'd checked the menu on the website for several weeks hoping the tomatoes were still there, because I knew once they could no longer be obtained locally they'd be off the menu. I don't remember what I had for a main course, but I could have eaten two more plates of those tomatoes in its stead and would have been completely satisfied.
