Fondue in NYC

I am going to NYC for a 3 nights in August. I really enjoy fondue but it's hard to find any restuarants that serve it. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a fondue restaurant in NYC? And if so, what is the general price range and what types fo fondue do they offer?

I live in Switzerland and it goes against everything I believe in to encourage you to eat Fondue in August, it's like eating Turkey and all the trimmings on July 4 ?.but if you have to do it, try this one:

Artisanal
2 Park Avenue (at 32nd Street, in the Garment District)
Phone: (212) 725-8585
Price: $31 to $50
Assorted cheese fondues ($20-$38), chocolate fondue ($10)

They also usually have raclette. Call to make sure they are offering Fondue in the summer. . .

Artisanal on Park and 32nd is a restaurant that prepares just about every dish with cheese. Not surprisingly, one of their specialties is the fondue. They offer 4 different types. We had the traditional since my wife isn't too adventurous, but the stilton is supposed to be outstanding. Dinner would probably run $30-$50 per person, less if having fondue as a main course.

Thanks LOL!! Actually, I do eat turkey all year round, I don't see anything wrong with that.

Thanks for the input. Are there any other places?

If you go to www.citysearch.com for New York city and search on "fondue," they come up with the following (all listed as bars, lounges, or night clubs rather than restaurants but all say they have fondue plus things like s'mores or...?!):

Fuelray Cafe & Lounge --68 W 3rd St Punch & Judy --26 Clinton St
Bubble Lounge --228 W Broadway
Abaya -- 244 E Houston St
Dip --416 3rd Ave
Fondue, 303 E 80th St

Some have websites of their own you could check, esp. "Fondue."

Is fondue still "back 'in'"? I thought it was back "out". I can't keep track. All these faux-ironic fads-- rich people bowling, bad 60s shag hairdos, macaroni and cheese as a haute-cuisine side dish-- fade in and out faster than I can keep track. Once it's featured on E!'s "Wild On", you know it's already passé.

All I know is: "It's all fun and games until someone gets a red-hot cheese-covered crouton in the eye."

I can't recommend Artisanal enough. It really is great.

Wow, I love Fondue and have gone to La Fondue (55 E 55th St) for 10+ years. I didn't know there was another fondue restaurant in NYC. We love La Fondue. For 2 - for salad and cheese fondue it will cost about $45.00.

I can't wait to check out the fondue at Artisanal and conpare it to La Fondue.

Didn't La Fondue close? The LA Bonne Soupe on W55 is still open. IT is really old world, but I like it. Artisanal is on NY MAgazines hot list, none of the others are.

Yeadonite: Wow, I had quite a brain fart there. Yes, the restaurant we frequent is La Bonne Soup. I don't know why I still call it La Fondue - since La Fondue had been closed for 4 or 5 years now.
