Following your favorte NFL team

I will try to be at every stadium the Chicago Bears will play this season.

Chicago - at least once(flying)
Green Bay(flying)
Minnesota(Minneapolis)(flying)
Tampa - no problem here. I live in Sarasota.
New York Giants(flying)
Tennessee - never been to Nashville(flying)
Dallas(flying)
Jacksonville - easy drive
Detroit(flying)

8 cities, 8 stadiums, 8 games.

Anybody else did or are planning on doing something similar?

Also, any basic lodging info on Minneapolis, Nashville, Dallas and Detroit?
Anything that's close to the stadium. All will be one night stays, so night life/restaurant/entertainment areas are NOT important, but if it's a possibility, please post.

Thanks!

Go CHICAGO BEARS!!!

What a fun thing to do! have you got tickets for all of them? Isn't it difficult to get tickets for Green Bay and Dallas, and possibly other games too? I took my son to Dallas a few years ago when the Chargers played Dallas. Texas Stadium is amazing. Are you going on your own or with a group of Bears' fans? It might be a good idea to find out if there are any organized groups that you could join. Then you'd sit with other Bears'fans and often they stay in the same hotel as the team.

Barbara,

I have not been to one game where I could not purchase a ticket from a scalpers just before the game starts, and usually for not very much over face value. I've learned to be patient, not panic, and it worked for me so far!

It makes it easier to be single during these trips. :-)

I usually make my presence known during the games, so I make new friends, locals or visitors. :-)

Well have a great time. I'm jealous (only I'd be watching the Chargers -who just won!!).

Having spent many years as Pats fans when they stunk, we can no longer get tickets to see them at home and are traveling to Buffalo to see them play at least one game this year. Everyone we talked thought this was a really cool idea. You would knock them out. Have fun!

ms_go Sep 12th, 2004 03:21 PM

Sounds like a great time.

I hope you weren't there today. It looked so promising, and then..... :(( ((N))
(and couple that with the Cubs lovely performance today, a tough day for us sports fans in the Windy City).

AAFrequentFlyer Sep 12th, 2004 03:35 PM

I wasn't there, but I did see the game.

I'm not too upset about the loss, with the new coaching staff and all, but I'm a little upset about the dumb penalties. Hopefully that will not continue, because that is a reflection of the coaching staff. Being aggresive is one thing, getting stupid penalties is another.

Still always have been, always will be a BEARS fan!

I know they could do better.

Love your idea...wish I had the freedom to try it. 2 kids, a husband and being the typical soccer mom/taxi keep me here!

Just this morning I told my husband I intend to get a NY Giants license plate frame (born into a family where my dad has had season tix since before I was born over 40 years ago). My hubby made a comment that I might not want to buy one just yet but I defended myself and stated I wasn't a fair weather fan...much like you Bears fans, we go through droughts of awful seasons, but we are true blue, aren't we? Enjoy your season!

My son just got back from Iraq (2nd tour) and we took him to the Redskins game today. (Cost us way too much, but we needed 3 seats together so we had to get them through a ticket service, otherwise we'd have gone the scalper route. But this was so special, we happily paid up $$$) He's been a HUGE fan since he was a little guy. He's hoping to go see them play San Francisco later in the season (He's stationed at Camp Pendleton and looking to see a bit more of California while there-- up til now he's spent way too much time in Iraq
:-( but we're pretty sure he's not going back again. We had SUCH A BLAST at today's game. Weather was perfect, seats were good, and the Skins won. (And Joe Gibbs is BACK).

AAFrequentFlyer, sorry about your Bears today (a disingenuous statement)! Anyway, when you come to Motown, there's a Hilton Garden Inn literally across the street from Ford Field, but any downtown hotel will put you within walking distance (Marriott Renaissance Ctr., Atheneum Suite Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott, Ponchatrain Hotel)

Barbara Sep 13th, 2004 07:57 AM

uhoh, congratulations on your son's safe return! While he's at Camp Pendleton, he can watch the undefeated San Diego Chargers! (I may not be able to say that for much longer....) Seriously, Qualcomm is a great place to watch football and the weather is usually good, too.

Hello from Titan's country! There are many hotels near the stadium with shuttle service on game days. There is a Ramada Inn very near the stadium. The Loews Vanderbilt is very popular (several blocks away). The Hermitage Hotel is beautiful, historic, and has a great restaurant. The Second Ave. district (near the stadium) is fun after a game. Our games are usually sold out, so you may want to plan ahead. Hope you have fun in Nashville! Go Titans!

How 'bout them Bears!?!

I'm on my way home from Packer land and let me tell you, the cheeseheads were not happy! :-D

There is a new sheriff in town and his name is Chicago Bears!

Scored a single ticket in section 115 for $75. Great seat!

I'm not a pro football fan, but I think we are going to go watch the Dolfins play this coming weekend.

Now college football is a whole other story. That's my vice.

AAFrequentFlyer, I hope you never met up with my youngest son, as he will probably never be home on a weekend in Fall or early Winter again.

He is only 25 but has been on waiting list for 9 years and has season ticket for the first time this year. He and a best friend split the 2 seater plan. He will be at all the home games. All of us are BEARS fans, but he is a fanatic.
We used to tailgate by McCormick Place and walk in at game time for years. Now it is so expensive and getting harder, but I never miss a gametime watch.

Another son was watching Bears game as 2nd child was being born in a birthing room. Wife watching too, I was there, and it is true. It can be a sickness.

Not going to call anybody today as the euphoria of beating Green Bay will have to wear off first. Don't want my ear drums to be damaged. Have a great time at all the away games and yell for us. Maybe we can be the Monsters of the Midway once again.

cassidy2002 Sep 20th, 2004 08:56 AM

Yeah, the Bears made our Lions look even better too! Everyone here was kind of down on our win last week, saying "oh, it was only the Bears"....now it's the Bears that went into Lambeau & won!!! Good job!!

If you want any info on Detroit, let me know. Ford Field is a beautiful stadium. It sounds like you will be in/out not tailgating or anything, so I can give you some advice on bars, etc around the stadium.

AAFrequentFlyer Sep 20th, 2004 09:16 AM

Actually the Lions game may be tough. I just realized few days ago that it's a day after Christmas. Not sure if I could getaway. I was hoping to fly in the same morning, but that may be too close for comfort. I'll have to see how it all pans out.

Your Lions have a real test next week. My Bears have another tough game on the road.

And also, A HUGE game today for my "other" team - Manchester United playing a long time rival, Liverpool. About as much love between these two teams as there is between Bears and Packers.

AA-
Ah, still riding the wave from yesterday Bear down Chicago Bears, .... never could sing :) Anyhow, my husband is a huge Steelers fan and we've tried to go to a game a year if they are within driving distance, unfortunately they haven't played the Bears for year but he'd love to do what you're doing. As for Nashville, stay downtown as it is very close to the stadium. We stayed at a very nice Hilton a few years back and there were tons of restaurants and pubs nearby.
