Hello all,

Central Vermont and surrounding areas will be peak this weekend.

Thanks, anyone know about upstate N.Y. Hudson valley area?

Bev Oct 7th, 2002 10:33 AM

How about the Portland Maine area this coming weekend? Anyone have a foliage or weather forecast?

John Oct 7th, 2002 10:48 AM

In the Boston area, foliage is late. Weather forecasters say 1-2 weeks behind usual. Very early maples changing now but nothing else.

I'm going from So. Florida to Dallas this week. Hoping to see some glimpse of fall....any chance?
I'm going to Blowing Rock, NC for a wedding on the weekend of 10/12-13--How's the fall color?

Hiked part of the Appalachian Trail this weekend near North Carolina. Not much of a change yet...still pretty green.

There isn't much fall foliage color in Texas. Little to none. The only ones who might notice are those who live here.

I moved to Texas from the Northeast, so I may be biased. I remember one fall that someone invited me to the Texas hill country on a hay ride to "see the fall colors". I went, and didn't notice a thing! Didn't want to rain on anyones parade tho. Felt like one of the characters in "the Emperor's New Clothes".

It's starting up in Connecticut.. come on up... and while your up here pick me up and get me the hell outa here..

Vermonter Oct 7th, 2002 11:38 AM

Southcentral Vermont probably won't be peak for over a week - seems slower this year, Erich, you must be in a different locale than me - mountain perhaps?

Erich Oct 7th, 2002 12:22 PM

To: Vermonter.

I live in Williamstown. It is a fairly high elevation here. This has been the latest I have ever seen it here in regard to color change. I am almost glad though, because we had some severe wind that would have blown all the leaves off of the trees. I predict they will cahnge quick where you are, and fall just as fast.
Regards, Erich

Re: Upstate NY - Around Albany, things were pretty green until just a couple of days ago. Likely to hit peak in the next one to two weeks. With all the wind we've had, it's going to be a short foliage season.

In suburban Philadelphia (Bucks County area), foliage is just now turning red/orange. Trees are full, with the beginning of falling leaves. A park ranger pal claims this area should peak around 10/18.
Was in Bennington, VT this past weekend. Pretty green in town, but higher elevations around Bennington are coming along nicely. Southern Vermont should be putting on quite a show for the tourists coming up for Columbus Day weekend.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and thought I'd add to this, though we have more evergreens than diciduous (sp?) trees--but the colors are beautiful now--lots of reds, oranges, and yellows--especially in areas like Stevesns Pass.

Up we go.
