Foliage in D.C. this week;Color Changes?
I have a chance to go to Washington, D.C. this Wed. through Sunday.
Just wondering how much, if at all, the leaves have changed into the lovely fall colors? I am checking on other sites, but I cannot find anything for this year, this month, this week specifically. Thank you all. |
Everything is still pretty green here and I wouldn't expect to see much of a change within the next week. But the weather is supposed to be almost perfect for the next week or so--partly sunny or sunny each day with highs in the low-to-mid 70's and lows around 60. It would be a great time for you to visit!

longhorn is right, no color this week, but it is supposed to be beautiful.
If you come, enjoy! Mary |
as above...a few trees now slightly turning...I see them out of my office window but come on....should be hopefully non-humid weather
|
Usually peak color in the city is at the end of October. The zoo, Rock Creek Park, and Embassy Row are beautiful then.
|
Sorry, the trip is for this coming Wed., Oct. 15..will the colors be any better? :-)
|
You might - or you might not. But you should have beautiful weather for your time in DC
|
Cira--I actually thought of you today because I drove through Rock Creek and a couple of maples have turned, but it is mostly green and very dry; we are supposed to have beautiful weather next week, but more summer-like than fall.
As noted above, our leaves don't really change until Halloween. Mary |
Every now and then as I drive about the DC area I see glimpses of red, yellow or gold, but mostlly still green. Wonderful time of the year though.
