FOILAGE IN CONNECTICUT
 

Where is the best place in Conn. to view the fall foilage. Coming from Delaware and any good places to stay and eat.
Also, any suggestions for the best routes to follow?

Litchfield county connecticut is beautiful.
Depending on what your budget is, there are B&Bs to stay in, or some very upscale hotels/inns.
When are you coming and what is your budget?

This post has me thinking of Charlie Brown and the shiny aluminum Christmas tree Lucy wanted him to buy.

We just drove Route 7 from Danbury back to VT. from New Milford north, it's beautiful. I'd love to spennd some time exploring there. Kent seemed like a really nice small town.

I live in Litchfield County and think it is a wonderful place to visit.
If you are looking for a more "out of the way" area, the Golden Pear B&B is lovely. It is located in Bethlehem - which is a sweet little town with some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. It is also one of the few towns around that still has operating farms. In terms of the area, Bethlehem is not as "posh" but more country.

For a more central stay - the Windmere B&B in New Preston looks lovely. ( I don't know their website) Ive driven by it - and it is in a very pretty spot, though noone I know has stayed there. New Preston is a very pretty town near Lake Waramug, with a very posh atmosphere, wonderful (but exceptionally expensive) antique shops, furniture stores, etc. There are also some great places to eat (Olivas, Docs, The Boulder Inn, Hopkins Inn). It is a more central area,than Bethlehem for seeing Litchfield, Washington, Bridgewater, etc - - but more upscale.

Thanks steviegene for your recommendations. I usually just stay with my in-laws in Hartford when I'm in CT so this is good info to have from someone directly in the Litchfield area. I'll use this to research both places. Thanks!!

The Hopkins Inn, on Lake Waramoag, is a wonderful place to stay in Litchfield County. The Inn also has an excellent restaurant. We have been there in late fall, seceral times, and are never disapointed.

I must have eaten at the Hopkins a hundred times - (mmmm, their potatoes are to die for). But I have never stayed there, or know anyone who has! What is it like?

We've been there twice, both times for Thanksgiving weekend.

It is very simple, rather old fashioned feel to the rooms, but good size and clean as a whistle, Comfortable beds, no T.V. chocolate on the pillow et al, but great for cozying up and reading a book!

Steviegene, we should tell Fox34 to be sure and order the "rosti"-right??
