Hey, I found out what happened to the Amazing Race posts. I finally got an email from Fodors. Two, in fact. They read:
Dear subscriber:

In answer to the question you placed on Travel Talk: the Amazing Race threads continue to disappear because they are not travel-related topics. Surely there must be a website in cyberspace where these matters can be discussed more meaningfully.

We appreciate your interest in Travel Talk, however, and do hope that you will continue to post.

The second email read:

On a thread on the U.S. board you have written that you do not know why the Amazing Race threads have been deleted. The threads have been deleted because they are not related to travel. Travel Talk is a forum about travel.

Sooo there you have it. I'm sure I've seen threads that were much less travel related than Amazing Race, so I guess someone on Fodors has a personal vendetta--maybe the censor is a reject from the show or something.

Basically it's a scavenger hunt that takes teams all around the world. Viewers at home get to watch these adventures and are exposed to foods, cultures, customs, sights, etc. that they may or may not normally get to see when they travel.

OMG, it didn't dawn on me that you're 5 hours behind me... hope I didn't ruin it for you.

Sorry, wemr... I know I haven't answered your question. I don't know the difference.

I was hoping, oddly enough, that everyone would get a glimpse inside the Auckland airport on tonight's show. Strange, I know, but the place is like a living room inside, or a lounge.

Great show. Someday, I want to see the Hermitage because of the show, for something other than a vague notion. It's the first travel show I've ever seen that showed that beautiful interior. Amazing... And there it was in primetime, not tucked away on whatever PBS stations could carry it, or on cable where only certain people can see it. Same goes for the interiors to the Pyramids.

How pray tell is the Amazing Race not Travel Related as said by fodors? It has every travel related situation which comes up in travel. I think there is some kind of inside competion between Fodors' parent company and the producers of The Amazing Race.

No prob, makai, I didn't go online till after.

HEY! Giovanna asked why the AR threads are disappearing, on the Europe board. We went back & forth about it and then the fodors' censors apparently obliterated the thread this morning.

It looks like many fodors posters are into Amazing Race and are inspired to travel from it, since such threads keep popping up over & over.
