OMG Jor, where can I get that bumper sticker for my father in law? Hee hee hee

Does anyone remember that hilarious cheese thread? It was so gouda. I can't believe I can't find the edam thing. Makes me blue just thinking about it.

And speaking of regulars, where the heck is Elvira?

soccr Jun 24th, 2004 05:50 AM

What's wrong with dandelions? They're pretty and if they take over a lawn, no point in mowing!

LN Jun 24th, 2004 07:26 AM

I think at times we all feel "stale" or, at least, I do. Haven't taken a nice trip in awhile and I guess I'm starting to "chomp at the bit".

This is a really good, honest, discussion and it's probably been something that's been needed. So thanks Gyppielou for getting everyone going. There are many good posters who NEVER flame any poster and you learn to appreciate them.

Thanks for posting the site again for all the Fodor faces Scarlett - I forgot to save it to my favorites.

bugswife, I think it's pretty clear by now that Elvira has left the building.

We too had problems of squirrels taking up residence in the cupula atop our carriage house - how they squeezed between the louvers simply bewilders me! Richard inquired of pest control companies how best to rid ourselves of the destructive beasts, and just imagine our outrage of a cost of $75US to place a "Hav-a-hart" trap, then $25US to remove each "catch"!

"My dear fellow," I told him, "for $25 would could hire a taxi for the squirrel" Well, Sheridan, home from school, found a similar trap at a garage sale, and now catches them himself.

We have butchered a few of the buggers, tastefully roasted and served them at some of my elegant dinner parties, but for the small bit of food yield the effort seems a waste.

Richard will not have them in our motorcar, even if they are caged, so now Sheridan simply gives the horrid creatures "swimming lessons". I'm afraid dear Sheridan is not a very good instructor, as none of his students have passed the final examinations yet, and the ashman is going to wonder why so many wet "roadkill" find their way into our rubbish containers. Such is life!

Our squirrels wear Prada.

atilla Jun 24th, 2004 09:48 AM

Ya?! Well, our squirrels have egrets in their yard! They also wanna know what to name their first born. :-)

... what's that family tune ... I recall I couldn't get it out of my head. What was it, we are famil-eeee ... is that it?

Diana Jun 24th, 2004 10:43 AM

Thanks a lot blacktie!

Now I will be driving home from work with the "We Are Family" earworm making me crazy! :D

MzPossum Jun 24th, 2004 10:48 AM

dear Hyacinth
:)) Love your tv show!

Blacktie Jun 24th, 2004 10:54 AM

... Diana, I'd hoped to escape unnoticed before anyone confirmed my fear, but naturally just like the moth, I just had to have a quickie with that flame ... so you aren't alone ... we are famil-eee, we are famil-eee, eeeeeek, I cannot stand it.

... what about beverly hillbillies, would that one override famil-eeeee? Or daniel boone at the bar.

I LOVE Fodors. I have become a "smarter" traveler thanks to other posters who've shared great information on great places (and not so great) and great travel discount websites (which means more vacations a year! Love that!).
I love to read other people's opinions and and travel experiences.
Yes, there are some people who feel need to be nasty but I try really hard to ignore them and not reply (I think I've failed a couple of times). To steal a line from the infamous Rodney King "Why can't we all just get along??" :-)
P.S.: Some Fodorites are just really funny and give me a good laugh on boring work days (case in point "elle" posting "our squirrels wear prada"

Scarlett Jun 24th, 2004 11:43 AM

I am afraid that Prada is nowhere to be found in this town, I have to send my squirrels out to find something else.. what is a squirrel to do ?

atilla Jun 24th, 2004 11:59 AM

Scarlett
Gucci, Gucci, Gucci!

LN Jun 24th, 2004 12:04 PM

One day I told my familee
I wanna have a Prada
Then my Fadda said to me
No Prada for my dotta
But Fadda - I just gotta
wailed this Fadda's dotta
Fadda stood firm
Dotta got no Prada
just a big ole "NADA"

Scarlett Jun 24th, 2004 03:59 PM

Marilyn: I got one cooked puppy on my hands. You saved his life. I was making fresh croutons for a grilled chicken ceaser salad tonight and nearly made his fullbred self toast. Pheeww. I won't forget you next Christmas, at dinner I will say damn that JB, saved my dog. Salude.....of course we will salute you with Crystal Champagne!!!
JBMont: Keep fighting the fight and never lose you sense of humor since sometimes that's all you got.
Hyacinth Bucket: Alas you never tried my recipe for organic squirrel tartar. Goes best with a side of chipmunk pie...secret is only eggwhites no yokes.
And lay off this Prada thing folks...it was tongue and cheek when it was posted, but of course you all knew that. Cheers to this disfunctional group. Who knew I wasn't the only one who needed to exhale........thanks to all who mean it just a little. We will continue to do good work here!!! Goddammittt!!!!!!!!
