FODORS.com, Go LIST 2019, Tucson
Today the title of this post popped up on my PC so I read it since I live in Tucson. "11Weird and Wonderful Reasons to Visit Tucson." Most of it has been written and shared many times but the advice given for a Mexican restaurant is terrible! The writer chose a Gringo owned place disliked by most locals. There are so many excellent Mexican restaurants owned by residents or their parents who immigrated here from Mexico. The best ones feature Sonoran Mexican cooking, the region directly over the border from Arizona. So if you read the article and visit Tucson, be aware that the dining advice is not a good one, in fact, it's terrible.

We are headed your way the end of April. Where do you recommend? Thanks. |
I’ll be there at the end of March and would love to see your recommendations. |
Mi Nidito- plus many others in this area of South Tucson - Perfectos, El Guero Canelo, Micha's,
El Charro -the original, historic one downtown on 311 N. Court Street Cafe Poca Cosa BK Tacos El Berraco ( seafood) and if you have your passports along, park in US and cross the border in Nogales by foot and head to La Roca, fabulous. |
Thanks, HappyTrvlr! Is it really worth it to walk into Nogales to go to La Roca? I’ll be in Green Valley, so pretty close, and pondering taking my parents. |
We have been there many times; La Roca is a beautiful place with wonderful food. It depends on your comfort level but walking across the border and back has been easy in the past.

Thank you! |
