Silly people -- have you not noticed the color scheme for this year's Fodor's Guidebooks? It's a THEME.

fdecarlo Feb 12th, 2005 08:22 AM

What THEME would that be? Poor taste? :)

If they were going for yellow, it's too muted. If they wanted a mustard shade, it's too bright. Links get lost easily. And the orange? Also way too bright.

Funny though...on my screen they are more salmon and red. Shades of Christo's gates???

Have to laugh though. When they brought in the blue green scheme we hated it, now others ( or the same ones?) hate the new ones.

I'm wondering if the plan is to just change the color scheme every few months. Gets you looking at the top of the screen where the ads/info reside?

Patrick -- I've had the same reaction as you. After being on the "new and improved" site for a little while I have this white spot in my left eye, just like after someone takes a flash photo.

I'm not too crazy about the colors -- better left in the 70's or for food packaging.

I like the format of the home page, but the dark black logo blob constantly in the left corner of the screen is distracting (not to mention blinding).

I never thought I'd say this, but I liked the acid green color better.

As my daughter is wont to say, "...just not feelin it."

Hate it! Orange, Gold, Black....it's a product placement for something....A&W??

paula1470 Feb 12th, 2005 07:51 PM

Said it on the other thread - don't like it. The black Fodor's definitely makes your eyes hurt.

gyppielou Feb 12th, 2005 08:52 PM

Still think it's Uuuuugllly! Those who say it bright......those are the most ugly muted colors of yellow and orange I've seen in awhile.....alas maybe adding avocado instead of gray would have made it work......and yes I get the burn hole in my retna from the glaring black fodors in the left corner....I have no problem with pretty yellow and orange...... there is nothing bright and cheery about this, you need to check your screens.JMHO!!!!!!!!!!

gyppielou Feb 12th, 2005 09:02 PM

Owe!! by eye is burning from the black on white Fodors neon sign!!!!!!!!! Help!!!

cigalechanta Feb 12th, 2005 09:02 PM

this is very strange. There is no orange, only a red like a tomato???

rb_travelerxATyahoo Feb 12th, 2005 09:38 PM

Well it seems like just a few months ago so many were bitchin about the lime green and that they couldn't stand it.

But nobody went away, did they? Guess it wasnt' THAT bad after all, just as everyone will learn to ignore this.

i miss the easy to read "tier" of countries in soothing baby blue.

Omigosh, KeriKeri...our moms must have had that same designer. I had erased that red-orange couch w/yellow accents from my mind along with other traumas. hehe

I liked the color scheme until you said that!
