Fodors - beef up your server

The response time on this site has been very bad the past few weeks, and navigating from one forum to another just doesn't work. I suspect some people are getting frustrated and giving up. I would hate to see these forums whither away, this is one of the most interesting websites out there.

I've spent a lot of time (far too much, actually) here in the last week, and I'm unsure what you're talking about. I have DSL service, maybe that makes a difference, but I switch back and forth instantly between the Europe and US forums, post, search, and get responses almost instantly.

I also spend way too much time here and I do have a DSL line at work. :) I've found the last few weeks that posting a message and searching takes a few tries ... I get error messages at least once and often multiple times before the post or search goes through. No problems switching forums or viewing posts though.

Dan Oct 22nd, 2003 06:51 AM

Working fine for me, too. I have DSL.

GoTravel Oct 22nd, 2003 06:53 AM

I am having problems.

milkeway4 Oct 22nd, 2003 06:59 AM

no problems here!

Birdie Oct 22nd, 2003 07:31 AM

I'm getting server errors today when I click on certain posts. Never had that happen before.

JeanG Oct 22nd, 2003 07:41 AM

I have DSL. I get the following error:

Server Error

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

JRun Connector Protocol Error.

I, too, have been experiencing intermittent problems with the Fodors boards over the past few weeks. Lots this week. This sort of thing never happens on eBay. I guess you get what you pay for.

bettyk Oct 22nd, 2003 07:49 AM

My problems have been when posting replies. Sometimes the connection times out and I have to keep trying before it goes through. I NEVER had these problems before the last week or so.

Paul Oct 22nd, 2003 07:52 AM

Count me in - I had problems last week too, and I have a cable modem.

JRun Connector Protocol Error.

FainaAgain Oct 22nd, 2003 09:05 AM

I had posting problems on Monday, not for long though. I think we have cable connection at work.

Cerlaurie Oct 22nd, 2003 09:08 AM

I haven't been on that much in the last few days but I have had problems this morning.

Loki Oct 22nd, 2003 09:19 AM

I had problems this morning on a T1, lasted about 20 mins.

Statia Oct 22nd, 2003 10:47 AM

I had problems for quite awhile yesterday afternoon.

gojacks Oct 22nd, 2003 10:51 AM

This is sad. It's amazing how impatient we have become as a society.

Don't worry folks, your questions and comments will be answered, eventually.

missjanna Oct 22nd, 2003 11:38 AM

Have had problems the past week, but more so at work (T-1 line) than at home (Cable Modem) Mostly slow to refresh or after trying to reply.

DeborahB Oct 22nd, 2003 01:07 PM

I tried to a top a msg Monday on the Caribbean forum and after 15 minutes gave up and closed up. Came back later that day and my post was topped twice. Its been very slow at times the past couple of days. Were on DSL here at work.

amp322 Oct 22nd, 2003 01:10 PM

I have a cable modem and have had problems.

Kal Oct 22nd, 2003 01:51 PM

I'm dyslexic so when my cop buddy was having computer problems I told him to come over to my house and he could use my LSD. I got off with probation and community service.#-O

BrimhamRocks Oct 22nd, 2003 05:20 PM

Me too...

Server Error

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request.

JRun Connector Protocol Error.

As far as eBay never having any problems.... "This sort of thing never happens on eBay." .... LOL.....I'm going to assume that was a tongue in cheek remark.

Patrick Oct 22nd, 2003 05:33 PM

Very funny, Kal. Sort of like my dyslexic friend who excitedly took a job at a place because of the sign that said "This is a drug free workplace". He was there for week before he got up the nerve to ask where the free drugs were.

Anonymous Oct 23rd, 2003 03:52 AM

Yes, Brimham, the comment about eBay was intended to be ironic. The eBay site has lots of glitches, annoyances, and mistakes, but AFAIK it's never slow!

antmaril Oct 23rd, 2003 04:53 AM

I grow old waiting to post a reply. Most of the time, I just give up. I'm at work and this is the only site where I have trouble.

BrimhamRocks Oct 26th, 2003 01:18 AM

OK, now a new weird message has shown up, when I click on my nickname to see all my posts....

"500 There is no web application configured to service your request
There is no web application configured to service your request "

Very strange.

Lately posting replies I have had to to copy it so when it times out I don't have to retype it just paste it in the box .
