Here's another vote for Hawaii. Do 3 islands: Oahu/Honolulu's Sheraton (shopping and nightlife (maybe 3 nites at the beginning); Maui's Kaanapali Beach area (beauty, volcano and history, maybe 4-6 nites), and finally Kauai's Princeville resort for the final week of heaven! Discover a different beach every day, watch "South Pacific" before you go! Best Wishes!

Lily - Another vote for Bermuda. It truly is an island paradise, and seems to offer just about everything you're looking for (don't think Bermuda is noted for snorkeling). Another plus is that, after both a college graduation and a wedding within a week of each other, you won't have any jeg lag by heading to Bermuda since it's so close to NC. If this doesn't top your list, then make it a top choice for a 'special holiday', because once you've been to Bermuda, you'll fall in love with the island.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

honeymoon=hawaii unless your 2 girls or 2 guys getting married you would be in a minority in key west....but it would be very hard to do hawaii 2 weeks under 3000 thats only appx 215.00 per day which at best would be for a condo & food,no entertainment.we are going to hawaii in nov 2000 for 3 weeks 3 isles & costs are appx 5500 + food + entertainment which we figure will be at least that again.

Lily
How about a Windjammer cruise? It was a lot less expensive than the massive cruise ships when we went years ago.
We took our honeymoon out of the Bahamas, stayed a few days in Nassau for the sightseeing, shopping, dancing & nightlight of Pardise Island, then hopped aboard a Windjammer to cruise onboard a "yacht" with no more than 70 people (including crew) to the Bahama Out Islands. Stopped where there were some inhabitants, and some where there were none. Ended up in Grand Bahama Island.
You can join in by hoisting the sails, take the midnight watch and steer the ship through the black waters at night, or just sit back and watch while others do.

Bermuda.

What can I say...Maui no ka oi. It's the best of all the islands. So much to see and do...seclusion and privacy when you want it, nightlife, shopping, biking, hiking, tropical splendor..it's magical. My husband and I have honeymooned there on our 1st honeymoon and returned for our 25th anniversary and now are planning to retire there. It will capture your heart and soul!

Hi Lily

I think some of the Out Islands of the Bahamas might be in your price range; specifically in one of the older communities such as Marsh Harbour on Eleuthera or possibly Georgetown in the Exumas. You could probably find a quite romantic place (possibly bungalow) to stay at on your budget (check out Fodor's, Lonely Planet, Ulysses and other guidebooks) for the time you specified. Sightseeing, nightlife and upscale shopping however will be less available.

I might say this is all from reading and hearsay as I've only been to New Providence Island/Nassau in the Bahamas. I hesitate to suggest New Providence Island itself, even though I had a marvelous, relaxing vacation with ALL the criteria you mentioned, at a charming, B&B type inn there that was quite popular with Europeans for under $2000 for 3 people. I don't think the vacation was quite what many would want for their "honeymoon" though.

DAN
