Fodorite Shared Calendar

I have created a shared calendar that all can use to enter their GTG's, vacations, birthdays. Hopefully the link below will take you there. You are free to add in your items- include your screen name and keep it short. Will topp every day so people will begin to use it. Save the link as one of your favorites and then add in your events as they come up. I have added my trip in March 2009 so check that out to get an idea of what to put in the calendar.

Bill, that is sooooo cool. I've never seen a calendar that can be shared by all in that way.

Thanks for starting this.

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 06:23 AM

For those of you that want my help- just let me know what you want put in and I'll add it in.

Katie_H Jul 25th, 2008 07:44 AM

I added the Toronto GTG in August..

Any chance you could make the calendar orange?
:-d

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 07:52 AM

I'm trying to keep to the default colors for each category so the calendar does not get too busy with all different colors- that way its easy to spot the GTG, birthdays, vacations. If there is another category - I can create and add that as well.

Katie_H Jul 25th, 2008 08:01 AM

Oh gotcha...feel free to change the colors I added for the GTG.

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 09:23 AM

keepum coming!

FainaAgain Jul 25th, 2008 09:50 AM

What did I do wrong, tried to add Sept 7 going to Portland OR and the URL of my GTG thread? The page went blank :(

beanweb24 Jul 25th, 2008 09:54 AM

I was trying to add something on Sept 7 and got an error.

Maybe we were trying to add at the same time. :)

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 09:55 AM

You will need to add 2 events. Click on the day, click on create. then choose category- leave colors alone please- add your description then submit. Then click on the day again and do another create (do not edit) and choose GTG as the category and do the same. This time use the pop us field and add your URL (I have not tested whether the URL will post properly). The pop up field allows greater text entry when you move over the day. Try that and see what you get- you will get the hang of it. I'm trying to keep with the default colrs for the 4 categories so that the calendar does not fill up with dozens of colors. Also the default colors will focus you easily on GTG's , vacations, birthdays, etc.

Bill - cool! Hope you don't mind - I copied this over in the Lounge. :)

GoTravel Jul 25th, 2008 11:42 AM

I tried to add the NYC marathon but it will not let me.

BillT Jul 25th, 2008 11:52 AM

Lets try to keep the categories limited to birthday's, vacations, GTG's. Its going to get pretty crowded over time as people begin to poulate the calendar.

Hpyft Jul 25th, 2008 12:01 PM

I have become addicted to this site and now you've made it even more compelling. Thank you BillT.

SuzieTrue Jul 25th, 2008 12:16 PM

Cool idea!

starrs Jul 25th, 2008 12:52 PM

That is so cool!

starrs Jul 25th, 2008 12:56 PM

Oops! I messed up on the colors. Sorry.

pollyvw Jul 25th, 2008 01:10 PM

Fascinating. How can I access this site to create one for other uses? I tried www.my.calendar.com which did not work.

dherron Jul 25th, 2008 02:11 PM

Pollyw,
It's www.my.calendars.net

FainaAgain Jul 25th, 2008 03:47 PM

PollyVW, a question for you here (not to hijack Bill's thread)

pollyvw Jul 25th, 2008 04:52 PM

Duh...actually, it is dot net which gives me a page with only this:

"The requested calendar: Default.cal
was not found."

iamq Jul 25th, 2008 08:54 PM

How do you remove something that someone put on there without your permission?

iamq Jul 25th, 2008 09:05 PM

Never mind. I figured it out.

sheri_lp Jul 25th, 2008 09:28 PM

That is so cool!!

BillT Jul 26th, 2008 03:19 AM

Calendar tips:

1) Please use the category field when creating your items. I have added a fourth category- "Other Events" for the misc. items now appearing.

2) please use the default colors that come with each category- this will maintain some order to the colors and allow you to more easily find GTGs (green), birthdays (lavender), vacations (blue) etc.

3) Please keep you description short as others may be posting on the same day. Use the pop up field to expand your text and add a URL if applicable

4) Comments and feedback are welcome- enjoy your Fodorite Calendar!

Bill, thanks! How fun.

BillT Jul 26th, 2008 10:36 AM

Your welcome- its great to see where everyone is going and all the GTG's being planned.

BillT Jul 29th, 2008 01:14 PM

FainaAgain Aug 6th, 2008 09:42 AM
