Fodor's

Would someone please tell me how to phonetically pronounce Fodor's?

I have recently become an advid reader of Fodor's and really appreciate the helpful hints and tips. And reading the forum is quite helpful too.

Thanks.

To save you some reading, it's pronounced FOE-ders (rhymes with odors).

Those who don't agree are incorrect.

Here we go again! If it were Foe-ders, it wld be spelled that way to make the "o" a long "o". But it's not. So, it is Faw-ders...short "o". Could The Fodor Family please settle this once & for all?

If that were true, wow, wouldn't we pronounce "motor" as "mot-tor"?

I think the "family" already HAS decided how they pronounced their own name no matter what someone THINKS it should sound like.

The web site used to have a page that specified that it rhymed with "motors" but I can't find it anymore.

I think I usually say "Foe-doors." I will herewith conform to the agree-upon "foe-ders"

Do what I do - whenever asked which travel sites I like, I respond by saying, "It's the 'F' site. Not Frommer's. The OTHER one."
Of course, that pre-supposes I know how to pronounce "Frommer's."
And what is it with travel sites? Fodors, Frommers, Zagats. Why can't these places be called something normal and easy to pronounce like "Bob's" or "Sue's"?

My personal favorite is Gayot (guy-OH). Most people butcher that one beyond recognition.
