flying to hilton head?

I'm thinking of going to Hilton Head in late August-September. Is it much more expensive to fly directly to Hilton Head rather than Savannah or another more major airport in SC?

thanks

I promise that Savannah will be much cheaper and the easiest 45 minute drive to HHI possible. HHI also only has turboprop planes.

I, too would fly into either Savannah or Charleston.

The drive from Savannah to Hilton Head really is easy & quite pleasant - definitely no more than 45 minutes. Be sure to get directions from mapquest - the GPS in our vehicle mapped out a much longer route!

There is a regular bus shuttle service from the airport to Hilton Head if you don't want to rent a car

check out this service:

US Air used to fly into HHI. I remember playing golf one morning when a flight came zooming in. It scared the bejeebers out of all of us, but I instantly thought I'd never fly to the island -- runway very short, and the drive from Savannah is too pleasant.

I'd follow earlier suggestions: fly to Savannah or Charleston (although the latter is a bit long...) and rent a car.

We are in Hilton Head now and flew directly here, through Charlotte -- our tickets were $238 round trip - we found it much more convenient and less total travel time to fly directly here -- the plane is a small one, but not scary at all.
