Flying tips for NewDaddy :)
I couldn't reply to your thread, but I thought I would post a few tips for your possible flight. I haven't ever used any medications when I was flying.

Get your baby their own ticket, it should be half price, it is safer and easier.

Give the baby a bottle or nurse during takeoff, this reduces any problems with their ears. Wait until you are actually taking-off though. If you start feeding too early, they may finish before you reach full altitude.

Hopefully after eating, the baby will sleep most of the way. If not, then hold the baby and *play* as you would at home, with a rattle, etc. At worse, you can walk the aisle with the baby if s/he is fussy.

Have a wonderful vacation!

Anna-The days of half priced seats for babies are long over. A seat is a seat and the airlines don't care if it is a baby or not...
|
Infant seats DO exist for infants under the age of 2.The fare is 50% of the applicable adult fare.It may vary from airline to airline and some airlines may not offer the infant fare. But yes they do exist.
|
The rest of Anna's tips were great, however. I, too, never had to drug a baby to travel. A 2-3 hour flight is definitely preferable over an 8 hour drive! But I wouldn't go too far if the infant isn't at least 8 weeks old. If so, go, relax, and enjoy!

American Airlines DEFINATELY has the half price rate for kiddos under two. 9Just booked !)Daddy, make sure you have an extra change of clothes and plenty of wipes with you...
|
lynette was right about the extra clothes, you may even want to bring an extra shirt for yourself, in case of spit-up.

Thanks very much. I don't know what you guys are getting me into but I'm sure it's going to be a fun experience!
