Fly Fishing School???
Where should we go? Is it possible to go to a fabulous, scenic lodge in late September to fly fish?
Husband is a beginner, wants lessons and guided trips. I would like to be at a great lodge. An added plus would be proximity to a major city with culture that we can visit going to or from fishing. Last year we went to Jasper Park and Banff in mid-Sept, but not for fishing. Loved it and Canada's exchange rate. We live parttime in DC, so we can drive if we want if it's a few days distance (maybe upstate NY, New England, eastern Canada?) Also thinking eastern British Columbia, Rockies, etc. Any ideas? Is late Sept too late? We want to go after we get the kids back to college. |
Try Orvis in Manchester, VT. www.orvis.com

Yes, Orvis. My dh did this several years ago out of Manchester and loved it! Plus the area is absolutely gorgeous!

Go here: http://www.fishingworks.com/fishing_...ocation.cfm/PA for information on some PA schools. The state has some world-class trout-streams, too.

Thanks for the replies. I made reservations in mid- October for the Equinox Resort in Manchester Vermont, husband will attend the 2.5 days of Orvis fishing school. So hopefully we will be there for the fall colors. I can sightsee and visit the spa while hubby fishes. I have never been to New England, so I am excited. We will spend a few days in the Hudson River Valley on the way to Vermont and We may stop in PA on the way back and try some streams.
