Florida other attractions
Hi
I'm looking for some different things to do in Florida, alongside the usual Tourist attractions.
Any recommendations?
Eran

We went to Walt Disney World last Summer. Try taking a day trip to Cocoa Beach; the public beach is really nice to swim and to collect seashells. We spent most of our vacation around the Orlando and Kissimee area. Lots of places to shop and to eat. E-mail me if you have any questions!

Silver Springs is by far one of the most overlooked places in Florida.

Also, if you are looking for a relaxing get away try the Hilton on Longboat Key just outside of Sarasota. The hotel is beach front (Gulf of Mexico) with nice white sand and calm blue water. Nice pool / outside cafe. Good rates. Rental car is a must for this destination. Lot's of nice places to dine in town.

Eran:

Some small towns in Florida are worth a trip. Try New Smyrna Beach on the East Coast, south of Daytona. IT's a quaint little town, and the Canaveral national Seashore is only a few miles south. Micanopy is a small town inland that has been the setting for several movies because it is so beautiful.
You might want to take a fan-boat ride, which is a flat-bottom boat with an airplane propeller mounted on the back. They go through alligator-infested marshlands in the middle of the state: Visit the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp south of Orlando for a ride. ! THey have fan boats along the Tamiami Trail in the Everglades, too.
Also, if you'd like a lazy day in the water, go "tubing" at a place called Blue Run. It's a spring-fed river in the center of the state (you can see all the way down to the bottom it is so clear!) where operators rent inner-tubes at one end then drive you back when you reach the end, hours later. And don't worry---the spring water is far too cold for the alligators.
Have fun!

And that water is far too cold for humans too!!! At least for us true Floridians. Did you actually tube in that icey water???
