Florida Keys Rental Home

My friends and I (5 of us)are working on the exact destination in the Keys, but I'd like to find a home to rent (MLK long weekend in January). Does anyone have particularly good experience with a rental company? I'd love to find something quiet, nice, beachfront...not in a resort.

VRBO.com is your best bet because that is peak season and the rental agencies will not break up weeks.

OK- I need help with my ignorance. Are all houses down there on canals not beaches?

ilana, where?

Which Key?

In most of the heavier populated keys, Islamorada, Marathon, Key Largo, you can find homes on Canals. You can also find homes on the gulf side or on the Atlantic.

Because the keys are so narrow, you are never far from water.

If you are going with friends, I'd probably pick Key West.

Unless you have a boat, I don't think the other keys are as fun.

Most of the real estate agents in the Keys, ie. Remax, Coldwell Banker etc. have rentals available. Let your wallet be your guide! Don't know how far you want to be down but Duck Key (around mm 65, I think) has a large resort and also rental private homes. Tend to be pricey but off the beaten path and very quiet. Do you want to be close to Key West or farther north?
