Florida Keys

Driving to the Keys early March from Estero FLA and would like to spend a night. Looking for affordable accommodations, any suggestions? Very discouraged by high prices.

Define "affordable" in terms of actual dollars. We have no idea what you can "afford".

Do you have a preference for where in the Florida Keys you want to "spend a night"?

What is reasonable or affordable in the Keys may not be reasonable in other parts of Florida. Key West will be expensive. Areas like Marathon will be less but still expensive by many standards.

We have stayed at a Hampton Inn in Key Largo. It even has a small beach.

Thanks, there are 4 of us and we have a car so staying outside Key West and driving in for the sites is fine. Affordable would be under $200 a night, not sure if that is feasible? Will definately check out Hampton Inn in Key Largo, thanks Charsuzan.

Is that $200/night for all 4 of you?

Just so you know, Key Largo is about 95 miles (about a 2 hour drive) from Key West.

Do a google search for "Hotels in the Florida Key under $200" and you'll find plenty of links for places in your price range. You can then pick one based on how far you are willing to travel from the hotel to Key West.

good to know thanks, will definitely google that. Makes sense. Much appreciated.

We stayed at Hampton Inn in Islamorada. Same price range, small beach. Halfway between Key Largo and Key West.

I have always thought of Key Largo as being nearly a suburb of South Miami beach. More on the edge of the Keys than in the Keys. That 95 miles can be very long and slow on a the two lane road that winds through the Keys.

Estero is 180 miles from Key Largo and almost 300 from Key West.

Frankly, I would not use Google but rather an engine such as Booking.com to look for accommodations but it's up to you obviously.

Thanks for all your insights, very helpful. Yes we don't want to spend our time in the car once we get to our accommodation. May not be feasible to find what we can afford, may need to bite the bullet. I will check out booking sites and hope a midweek special surfaces.
