Hi everyone!
I want to surprise my boyfriend with a road trip to Florida keyes. I have never been to Florida so any advice/ideas are greatly appreciated. I heard you can either fly to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale... We are both 30 y o, love natue, water and adventure. I want to go for 4 days :)
Thank you!!

Consider a snorkeling trip out of Pennekamp State Park in Key Largo.

Rent a kayak in Islamorada and if the weather is calm, paddle out to Indian Key for a self guided historic tour.

Visit Robbies, just W of Islamorada to feed the tarpon.

Hang out at Bud N Mary's marina as the charter fishing boats are returning.

I would spend a night in Islamorada. Great restaurants and nearby activities. Restaurant favorites include the Lorelei, Lazy Days, Morada Bay.

Marathon is another good hub. Key Colony has good restaurants and hotels with local character. You should walk the pedestrian bridge to Pigeon Key to have an elevated view of the flats. Sombrero Beach is one of the Keys best beaches.

Bahia Honda State Park is a popular beach and snorkeling destination.

Big Pine has the largest population of keys deer.

Mangrove Mamas at MM 21 is a restaurant in the mangrove trees with good food and local flare.

In KW, attend the sun down festival at Mallory Square. Walk Duval Street to visit all the shops. Take a sunset cruise. Rent bicycles or scooters. Have a meal at the Turtle Kraals.

Visit previous Keys threads here for extensive discussions of destinations and activities. The trip through the Keys is the pleasure of visiting. Take your time, stop often.

If you have enough time, add in a side trip to the Everglades National Park and walk the Anhinga Trail to see the gators.

On your way down, take Card Sound Road, on the left just after you leave Florida City. Fifteen miles or so back there, just at the toll bridge, you'll come to Alabama Jacks. It has an "old Keys" kind of vibe that is a delight.

Mrs Mac's Kitchen, in Key Largo, is a locals' favorite.

About mile marker 93.5, on the right, is the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center. Well-worth a stop.

Stumpworks has got a lot of good suggestions. Your only problem is going to be time....

Hey! I was going to recommend Alabama Jack's too! Great place, really out of the way.

We live in Islamorada so I am very partial to this little gem! Key Largo and Marathon are more congested.

Rent kayaks and paddle through mangroves and then out to Indian Key. Very cool! Also Alabama Jacks!
