Florida in July with kids 11 to 16 - Siesta Key or Anna Maria or where?
I have Marriott Vacation Club resort at Singer Island reserved, but I'm thinking I will cancel. We don't particularly like the Atlantic side beaches with brown sand and water - we prefer the white beaches and blue/green water. Also would love to see the sun set over the water.

We have been to the panhandle before and love it, but Destin is too crowded and Seaside is great but more than we can afford right now (around $3000 for a week's stay).

We'd like someplace with white beaches and clean water and it would be nice if it was someplace quiet and low key enough that the kids could run around a little without us having to worry or be with them every second. We like upscale, but not SO upscale that we are in the middle of a bunch of rich snobs...We aren't rich but we like nice surroundings.

We had thought of Sanibel/Captiva also.

Any ideas on places to stay where we can walk out on our balcony and have a full view of the ocean?

Also, is it going to be miserably hot and humid in Florida in July? Probably so, but the kids want to go to the beach.

Had considered California also, but had decided that for a nice beach with clean water the central coast would be best. But am hearing it may be foggy there in July, may be cold and the water is cold. And it's looking like it would be more expensive than Florida also.
