Watching the disaster on TV, I worry if anybody is hurt?

Patrick? Who else is in Florida?

Patrick is in Naples , pretty far from Lake County, hopefull everyone here is ok.
My daughter is in Jacksonville and they got big storms in the night, sideways rain etc , but nothing as severe as those poor people.

Our Croque Madame is in central Fl..hope she is fine.

I'm in North Florida and we're doing ok. Like the above post, we had storms last night, but they passed us by with no damage. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who were affected.

Tornado hit 1/2 mile from my parents house in the Villages!! They heard it go by at 3am - Mom said the lightning was unbelieveable, and it sounded like a freight train!!
Everything is ok - and we go down next weekend! So hopefully there wont be a repeat performance.

My mother lives about 30 minutes south of the Villages and goes there frequently for lunch, shopping, etc. She was just there yesterday. Thankfully, her community was untouched, but what a shame for all those affected. Mom says route 27 is full of rubberneckers, clogging up the roads.
I remember a batch of tornadoes also going through that general area about this time of year nearly 10 years ago. My parents were again lucky as the tornadoes struck to the north and south of them, but their community again was ok.

Latest is 14 dead in Lake County, none in Volusia. I am in Orange county and had a tremendous thunder, lightening and rain storm but no damage - around 4am. It is horribley humid right now but a cold front is coming tonight. There is devastation everywhere they say and it was only one tornado. I actually was at Yahala Bakery yesterday just south of Leesburg and the sky and air was very strange. Deland is supposed to be hard hit too.

I not only live in Naples, but I'm in NYC this week -- far from those horrible storms.

Lake and Volusia counties hit hardest. Sarasota, where we live had very heavy rain, some wind but nothing violent.
Heard recently that the Volusia Sheriffs's offices were demolished.
With the number of hurt and killed it is very sad.

Siesta Key - we're ok.

Heavy rains and some flooding but nothing close to what the people north of us experienced.

Ft. Myers area and south are fine. Warm and windy the last two days.

Sarasota /Venice areas are fine. Just some heavy rain for a short time. I flew back yesterday afternoon from New Jersey and had a bumpy flight.

Super Bowl and tornados - Fl really gets it. It was like watching Oklahoma on TV this morning.

Luckily, my Dad & sister live North of Daytona and my daughter just moved from Deland.

It's now 19 dead, my condolences to all those affected.

I'm located in South East Florida. It was in the low 90's today with a clear sky.

I'm in Ft.Myers and don't usually turn the t.v. on so I didn't know that we had tornadoes until I saw it on weather.com about an hour ago. No rain here, as usual.

We live in the northern part of The Villages. Thankfully, our neighborhood was safe, but some areas are just devastated. It was a night to remember!

Food and clothes drives are under way. Shelters are in place, but people also need to replace their lost medications and cash to keep them going. It is heart-breaking to see so many elderly and financially less fortunates, particularly in trailer parks, who have lost everything they worked so hard for. This is a generous community and I fervently hope we'll be able to lessen the burden of the numerous victims as quickly as possible.

I just want to share with you the amazing generosity of about 800 men showing up this morning on their day off to do clean-up work for free in a badly damaged area. They are professional construction workers doing sub-contracting for the developer, thereby having access to heavy equipment necessary for the job. Remarkable, don't you think? :-)

In the Gainesville area - about 60 miles north of Lady Lake - we had very heavy rain (really noisy on my metal roof!) and wind but no damage. We had a tornado watch until 1 AM but luckily nothing came of it.

What a terrible disaster! A friend sent us dozens of pictures from the Villages and it looks like a war zone. Much worse than shown on TV.
