Florida Family Trip

Hello to everyone...Well the 1st one I posted did not work so here goes again...
Yes I am Canadian and looking for your help and somewhat of a direction for holiday. Been to Daytona Beach and kids loved it as well as Disney so here are options...#1 We could drive down and take 2 weeks but would like to do ocean thing (suggestions)as well as Disney thing but where to stay, names of beaches you suggest and hotels in area. As well as Hotels in orlando area.Any of your experiences shared would be great.....
#2 Thinking of Flying there and one of two things get hotel on Disney or in orlando and just taking time out to drive to ocean for day..or Flying and staying at ocean and driving to Disney for day or 2.As flight pkg would include car.Sorry for confusion but need help in this area as far as what you would do or have done and where to stay(area) and names of (hotels).Any info you could supply me with would be great. P>S> if any Canadians read this prehaps you could suggest a candian flight pkg..thanks all CanadianGirl

Hi CG,

I have posted on this topic at Fodor's before, so excuse me if this sounds familiar to anyone reading.

Our all time favorite beach (in U.S.) is on Longboat Key. The Gulf of Mexico is just great(warm, clear blue and white sands) in my opinion the Longboat key area is extra nice because it is about as "untouched' as any beach in Florida. There seem to be a few beachfront accomodations. However I personally have only stayed at the Longboat Key Hilton. This Hilton is beachfront with a pool and cafe/bar. Longboat key is not a far drive from Orlando. You could fly into Tampa or Sarasota airport and after a few days drive to Orlando.

I have stayed in a suite at the Hilton on several occasions, this might work well for your family. I am sorry but I really don't know how many suites they have or prices. Because I normally travel for business, I can only tell you the cost is on average $140.00

Hi CC- I don't have any recommendation but you may want to plug in this exact search query "Looking for a beach while in Orlando." There are several posts that debate the pros and cons of east vs.west coast of FL.

HI fellow Canadian I just got back from Disney. I recommend the Days Suites on Irlo Bronson beside Old Town. Get a Kissiimmee/St. Cloud visitors guide mailed to you Free. and use the coupon for $59. a night. Seperate bedroom and full kitchen. Sleeps 7. Email me with any questions.
There are airlines that allow you to fly into one Florida city and rent a car and return the car and fly out of another Florida city.Say you fly into Tampa/gulf beaches and drive to Orlando and fly home from there. Comfort Inn /Maingate is close to Disney. Irlo-Bronson rd/drive. The Gulf beaches are beautiful.

Hi
We travel over from the UK on occasions to do Disney Busch etc, we like the The Castle Hotel on Intl Drive for 4-5 action packed days at theme parks, then 7+ days on the beach to chill, we also like Longboat Key + Lido Beach area, and stay at condos on the ocean or hotels, both are plentiful. We have 3 kids 13,11,5, anf this meets everybody needs even ours.
