Florida family California Trip
My husband and I with our 4 -teenagers are headed to California for the first time.
Flying into San Francisco and out of Los Angeles. We want to head north to see the redwoods, is this possible during a 10 day vacation? If not, what recommendations do you have for a 10 day family vacation with teenage girls? |
You don't have time to head up to the Redwoods National Park/north coast. But There are Redwoods in the metropolitan San Francisco area at Muir Woods, in the Santa Cruz Mountains between SF and Monterey, and in the Big Sur area.
BUT a lot depends on how much time you want in SF and in LA, and whether theme parks (Disney and/or Universal) figure in your calculations. 10 days is doable but rushed to cover San Francisco, nearby Redwoods, the coast, and the LA area. Something like 3 nights SF, 2 nights Carmel/Monterey, 1 night farther down the coast, 3 nights LA is an option -- but would leave little time for theme parks . . . |
You need to give more information as to what interests you and your teenagers. I say leave out theme parks...you have plenty of that in Florida.

No need and I do not think you have enough time with 10 days. You can see redwoods in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park near Santa Cruz en route south.
Maybe 3 nights SF, 1-2 Monterey, 1 Pismo Beach (or Cambria but teens would probably like Pismo better) and 3 in LA. If you are doing Disneyland that is in Anaheim which is an hour south of LA. |
