The Venetian pool in Miami is really great. It was built in the 1930s and was designed to look like Venice. You and your kids would love it -- but check to be sure it's open in October. I'm sure you can find it on the www somewhere. I believe it's in Coral Gables. Another great swimming spot (other than the beach) is Mathison Hammock which is south, Cutler Ridge area, I believe.

Tandoori Girl, if I remember correctly the Venetian Pool does not allow children in diapers (too bad, it's a great place). While we go to Matheson Hammock often as it's closest beach to our house and great for families, it does have a funky smell. Bill Baggs State Park on Key Biscayne is a good beach and I believe still has a carousel. My kids loved Parrot Jungle so much when they were toddlers that we had annual passes It however moved about a year ago to Watson Island and I haven't seen that facility. There is also a new children's museum near the new Parrot Jungle.Seaquarium (on Key Biscayne) is an older facility and a tad run down but your children should enjoy.

Ummm. Maybe the reason Matheson Hammock has a funky smell is because THEY DO allow children in diapers?

Heeheehee. I wonder if they allow adults in diapers?!?

That funky smell might be the same thing that makes Tampa's Bayshore Boulevard stink. It smells like rotten eggs.

I think that at one of the parks in Key Biscayne (Maybe Bill Baggs?) they have bicycle rentals including those contraptions that hold 4 riders (parents can pedal in front and put the kids in back?).
