Florida beach time in January?
My wife and I will be taking our 10 year old niece to Orlando and Disney in early January 09. We are thinking of adding a few days at the ocean afterwards.
I don't mind driving to Miami or ????? Is the weather likely to be warmer in the Miami area then than the beaches near Orlando? I would be looking for a nice beach resort with kid friendly pools etc. without spending much more than $200.00 per night. Any suggestions? |
Yes, you will have to drive south to "guarantee" warm weather in January....West Palm Beach and South on the East Coast...Ft. Myers/Naples on south on the West Coast.
Of course, it could hit 80 in Orlando that time of year.....or hit 40 in Miami/Naples that time of year. But for consistancy, that's the rule. |

</b> Probably, but as milemarker0 implies, the weather can be inconsistent and there are no guarantees. January is not normally beach weather, but you could get lucky. |
Thanks,
I live in Alberta. I know all about 'guaranteeing' good weather. Anything over 70 F or 20 C would sound good to me at that time of year! Any hotel / resort recommendations in that area? |
To get you started, look into staying somewhere in Cocoa Beach <http://www.cocoabeach.com/>. I wish I could help with specifics but I live 60-70 miles away. We rarely stay there since it is just a short drive home. Perhaps 321go can help?

Thanks VIc,
As I have started thinking about this trip I am getting more interested in spending some time in the Miami area. I have already been to Cocoa Beach last year. I think I might like to stay in South Beach. |
