FLORIDA BEACH CONDOS
Looking for a great condo in Florida for me and wife and kids (ages 10 & 9). I'm looking for condos that are actually on the beach. I'd like to have something that has it's own patio on the beach where we can sit and relax without having to walk a distance to get to the beach. Don't really have a preference for Atlantic side or Gulf side...love both sides but have stayed in resorts most of the time. I've stayed in a condo for a couple of trips to Sanibel and loved it. Thinking of going back there but wanted to get suggestions to try something new. Price does not matter. Thank you for any input.

On a beach anywhere in the state, at any price? Where to begin??
How about Amelia Island? Clearwater/ St. Pete? Naples? I have been to these places and they're great. There are hundreds of others, though. |
How about stating how long you want to rent since some condos have minimum length requirements.

Longboat Key - La Playa. We were very pleased.

"When" is very important.
The beach season in northern Florida doesn't really begin until it is all over in the south. Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island are great but not before late April. Our teeth have chattered in the Panhandle in April. Last year in March the Panhandle was pleasant for walking around but not remotely warm enough for the beach. On the other hand, Québécois are famous for swimming in Myrtle Beach in March. YMMV. |
All very true, Ackis. We wore hoodies walking on the beach after dark over Memorial Day weekend on Amelia!
To be more specific for the OP, the Ritz on Amelia Island has villas and condos on the beach The advantage of the Ritz compound is that you can walk to a couple of restaurants on the property; the big disadvantage is that it's on the opposite end of the island from the village and very isolated. But there are loads of VRBO listings for Amelia, many directly on the beach. |
