Harry: You mean the ones that violated the 1998 Florida standard for absentee ballots? They were counted, advantage Bush. The decision to keep them out initially was made by local counties. Another example of including each and every possible republican ballot, while applying the strictest standards to the democratic ones. <BR>"There is something rotten in the State of Florida".

The last time I checked this post, it was a TRAVEL FORUM!!!! Bush is in office. Leave it alone.
WHO really will be the president though? It sure looks like the REAL president will be Dick Cheney. George is not the smart Bush brother - that is Jeb, Governor of Florida - nor is he particularly experienced in running things. The governorship, in Texan terms, is only the state's fifth most powerful job. Cheney, by contrast, oozes experience. Oval Office insider, six-term congressman, Defence Secretary, big oil businessman, one of Daddy Bush's oldest, most trusted friends. Cheney, short, owlish, overweight, brought no discernible charisma to the campaign trail. He is an efficient but one-paced speaker. He does not enjoy stump life or the endless days of glad-handing. His own half-stab at a presidential run against Clinton in 1996 collapsed of its own accord. He did not have the ambition for the fight. He prefers the backstairs route. Some voters, moreover, choked on the obscene packages of stock options, pay-offs and compensations that the oil company he ran for five years, Halliburton, showered on its departing chief executive - not just the $20 million cash in hand, but the further $10m or more he continues to hold. <BR>

There's no question that Bush will rely on his subordinates to make key decisions. Hopefully we wont have any great crisis (like the Cuban missile crisis) which required wise leadership disregarding the advice of the military establishment.

COINCIDENCES??? <BR> <BR>I am old enough to remenber a few democratic coincidences. <BR> <BR>1. Roosevelt giving us to the Russians at Yalta. <BR>2. Truman firing the best general since Robert E. Lee for wanting to go on into Manchuria and kick China's A##. I and the rest of the men I knew was ready to follow him in. <BR>3. Kennedy - Marilyn liaison and his using the mob for his interest. <BR>4. Lyndon Johnson was the most power hungry crook. I personally knew one of his lieutenants that dug up dirt on anyone Johnson wanted to bring in line. <BR>5. Carter's LUST of the heart. That's all anyone can say about him, good or bad, because he did NOTHING. <BR>6. Clinton - well hell - theres not enough room. <BR> <BR>The democrats have been pulling Floridas and watergates ever since fido was a pup. They are such professional crooks they very seldom get caught and when they do they lie their way out of it. <BR> <BR>So there. Nanny Nanny Boo Boo

What is it about Republicans wanting to *control* everything? Republicans want to control who is President no matter what it takes. Republicans want to control the Senate and the House of Representatives and the state governments. Republicans want to control what the content is in movies, on TV and in music. Republicans want to control public schools (books, prayers and teachers) and the PTA. Republicans want to control home owner associations. And teenagers. And language. And these Fodor's mesage boards. What is about this control thing you GOP's have going? Why not...*control yourselves**.

Oh my, you snivelling cry-baby Democrats need to get a new tune, and fast. I thought you people were the champions of tolerance? Is your self-esteem so low that you must constantly attack GW? That only shows that you people are desperate, ugly & hate-filled. It's going to be a lonnngggg 8 years for you, isn't it? <BR> <BR>What a breath of fresh air we will have in the White House after all the filth & scandals of the Clinton administration.
<BR> <BR>The lesson I learned, other than that the bad guys always win, is that CNN has very low threshold when it comes to the qualifications of its reporters--that was pitiful.
And don't forget it was Kennedy and Johnson who got us in/kept us in Vietnam. It took a Republican to get our boys out of there. <BR> <BR>

Florida still is a wonderful place to go for a vacation with its warm, sunny climate and beautiful beaches. When its snowy and freezing up north you can bet is is perfect in Fort Lauderdale Florida. Come on down. We can all forget abour our troubles and relax.
Florida is the new land of fruits, nuts, crooks, laundered money, and drugs! And, looking at the weather map this morning it is not that warm down there today!!! You can shove the sunshine state where the sun don't shine!
Two great questions in U.S. history.Who killed Kennedy? Who stole Florida. In both cases Texas oilmen and Floridians were invoved up to their red necks.Just a different brand of Floridian this time.
Gerry <BR> <BR>Lybdon Johnson was no oilman!! Neither was Oswald. Do you know what Johnson did 10 seconds before the shot was fired? He put his fingers in his ears.
Gerry, <BR> <BR>You're in SERIOUS need of an IQ check!
H.L.Hunt was an oil baron and only a handful of boobs believe Oswald was anything but a patsy.
Gerry <BR> <BR>Oswald was a patsy. That's the only thing of truth you have uttered. If you knew anything at all about the case you would know H. L. Hunt was never implicated. You are talking through your hat. <BR> <BR>If you can find it, you should read the book "A Texan Looks at Lyndon". There were a few printed before Johnson had all he could find confiscated and the publication stopped. In the book Oswald was traced to south Texas (not H.L. Hunt terratory) where he picked up the orders to kill Kennedy. The order giver was a "kingmaker" who was responsible for Johnson"s success. Do you remember BOX 14 DUVAL COUNTY??
What about Janet Reno letting both Clinton and Al Bore off the hook NUMEROUS times. This administration has been lying for 8 years. As long as African Americans follow Jesse Jerk, they will never rise above their problems. <BR>
Gerry, Since when was H.L. Hunt EVER connected with Oswald or the assassination? To my knowledge, the two have never been mentioned in the same breath and the closest you can come to making ANY connection is that Kennedy was assassinated in the same city that HL happened to live in and Hunt was still alive at that time. Unreal.

To the moron who's comment was that the US Supteme Court shouldn't "second-Guess" the Florida Supreme Court. Using your logic, there should not even be a US Supreme Court. You suggest that state courts are smart enough to get every decision right. Idiot!
"Supteme Court" ?? Well, a scholar you aren't. We'll just let the scholars and anyone with a sense of outrage to continue to dissect Bush's rigged selection. I don't think you'd understand any legal arguments, anyway, so none will be raised here. You Bush loyalists continue to lose points everytime you resort to name calling. You earn NO respect.
