Floppy disks and airport scanning tips?

Has anyone had any problems with transporting files (e.g. data loss/corruption) on floppy disks through airport security scanners?

Is it possible to get hand inspection so the disks don't have to be scanned? Any experience or tips would be appreciated.

This comes straight from out tech guy who advises us when we travel: scanning has no effect on floppies.

I travel a lot on business and always carry both my laptop and backup floppies with me. Neither has ever suffered any damage from being scanned.

For some reason, I would trust a CD way more than a floppy. There's probably not a single iota of real reason behind this but rather a gut feeling. I've had way too many corrupted documents on floppies but never one on a compact disc!

Thanks for your replies, I too would prefer a CD but we won't get our CD burner until after my travel dates, and it has occurred to me as a back up plan that another option might be just to email my files (as an attachment) and just download at my destination assuming my email can handle the file size. Thanks again!

Update: Happy to report that both floppy disks and CD's survived airport security scanning, thanks again for your accurate :Badvice.:S-
