Flights Brisbane to LA, LA to Honolulu and Honolulu to Brisbane
Looking at flying from Brisbane to LA, then LA to Honolulu and home to Brisbane from Honolulu in late June early July with wife and two teenage daughters.
I am a Qantas gold member and will be looking at using Qantas for our Bris - LA - LA - Hon legs of the trip to utilise the Qantas lounges. But it appears that coming home from Honolulu we have to go via Sydney and then fly back to Brisbane which will be a pain... Appreciate any thoughts / recommendations on direct flights from Honolulu to Brisbane.

I'm not sure what you're asking for but there are no non-stop flights between Honolulu and Brisbane.
Direct flights with one stop are available on Fiji Airways, Qantas, New Zealand and few other airlines.
Direct flights does not mean non-stop.
You'll have to accept one connection with one of the airlines so might as well book with Qantas.

I have wanted to do Melbourne - honolulu - nyc return.
It is not very easy to do.
I thought Hawaii would be a great point mid way to the USA, but flights are really quite limited and it is quite costly adding the Hawaii part to the trip.

Millie2112, If you look at the fare on Qantas direct to LAX it is more $$$, and about 15-16 hours to boot. We go through HNL just to break the trip, and it's hard to pass up a couple days in Hawaii. You can also go through Auckland on Air New Zealand MEL-AKL-LAX. But it's a long way
