flight seeing in mt. mckinley or juneau

Hi Guys,
I need your suggestion to decide which flight seeing is better to take.Mendenhall Glacier , Mt. McKinley or any that you think is better in Alaska..

Mostly, the flight seeing in Juneau is of the Misty Fjords National Park and it is spectacular. Flying out of Talkeetna for Denali is also spectacular. Either one would be great and I would choose based on how much time I had in each place. Since the weather is changeable, the longer you have in each location, the more scheduling flexibility you will have.

The problem with McKinley/Denali is that the weather is so variable that you may get all the way there and then not be able to fly.

Have you considered the Mendenhall helicopter landing thing. You fly in a helicopter about the size of a gnat - into which they cram 6 passengers and a pilot who appears to be about 12. Magnificent view of Juneau as you fly to Glacier (when I finally got the courage to open my eyes). You get about 20 minutes on the glacier and then back to heliport. Incredible experience.

We went flightseeing to Denali and it was an awesome experience. The weather, as mentioned, was iffy, but once it cleared, the pilot took off from Talkeetna for the mountain.
It was a highlight of our three weeks in Alaska.
We drove out to the Mendenhall Glacier which was interesting but nowt as big a Wow factor.

Flight out of Talkeetna was one of the best things we have ever done. Juneau was completely socked in, which I understand is VERY common. I've read that state workers/politicians have a hard time flying in to work at the state's capitol.

We've done both and we've loved both. As has been stated, the flight around Mt Mckinley can be iffy because of the weather but it was clear and great when we were there. We did the helicopter and landed on Herbert Glacier while in Juneau. It is awesome to walk on and experience the complete stillness. We used Coastal Helicopters out of Juneau. He flew us down Mendenhall Glacier, but landed on Herbert.

Like some of the people that have replied, I have done both flights -- and Mt. McKinley is awesome - we went out of Talkeeneta -- and one thing I wanted was a '2' engine plane. Like other's have said the weather can be ify. Don't know what your itinerary is -- if you bypassed flying over the Mendenahall and hoped to fly over McKinley to save money -- I would hate to see you put all your 'eggs in one basket' -- my recommendation is do both if you can.
Also, walking on the glacier was an experience that I will never forget.
Have a great trip.
