Flight question

Hello, this may be a stupid question but is it possible to fly out a day early standby without having to pay the change fees? We were thinkning about trying to leave a day early for San Fran. Just thought I'd ask in case someone knows the answer!

A day early isn't standby, a day early is a new booking.

I had some folks do that yesterday returning from Philly & they only charged them $100. I would guess it would depend on the luck of the draw regarding the gate agent. GoT is right, as far as the rule goes. Probably have better luck at the airport (in person) as well.

Earlier the same day is standby - I've showed up at airport early enough to catch a different flight and have been able to get on that plane several times w/o any fee. This works well on frequently travelled routes between hubs.

If you are changing your outbound flight, call your banker.Changing the outbaound requires the itinerary to be repriced as if you never had a ticket in the first place. So you will have to pay the prevailing rate, plus the change fee.If you are changing the return, then usually all you pay is the $100 or $50 or whatever fee it is to change, as long as the same class of service is available.Best of Luck!

Also, most of the flights I have been on lately have been full to the brim, so standby wouldn't work - even if it might.
