Want to fly Manchester UK to Newark - but return JFK to Manchester. Has anyone done this and how easy is it to book, my guess is probably BA? Can you recommend any good travel agents in UK who are competative and know what they are talking about.

Do you know if BA has personal seatback TVs on Manchester flights?

BA doesn't fly nonstop from MAN to EWR; only Continental does, but then CO doesn't fly from JFK to MAN nonstop, only BA does.

Unless you want to split your carriers, I'd go with BA all the way - MAN-LHR-EWR//JFK-MAN. The transatlantic flights will have personal video screens.

Because your trip is "open jaw at destination," the inept BA.com website will not allow you to book online. Instead, I'd recommend www.expedia.co.uk which will make it easy.

Only airline that flies non-stop MAN-EWR is Continental (you can also buy the ticket as flybe codeshare, but operated by CO). BA flies MAN-JFK (you can also buy the tickets as AA codeshare).

If you fly BA, you need to connect in LHR to get to Newark.

So, basically there's no airline that fly non-stop for both MAN-EWR and JFK-MAN.

BA, AA, CO all have individual screens in coach.

Oh, actually, one piece of info that was incorrect in my post. CO now has two flights MAN-EWR, one is on a 767-200, the other a 757-200. The 757 is a single-aisle plane with no individual screens in coach. Audio program is also inferior. Avoid the 757 one (CO101, which is the late flight).

Rkkwan - where did you get the info about the 767 and 757 CO, when I rang them they say its the other way round - the lae flight is the 767 with PSV. But having said that all the options I bring up on different sites show both flights are 757s - this is confusing. Its important to me but how I can I guarantee it with conflicting info. Thanks for your input.

lynn100 - When are you going? You can simply search for the flights on Continental.com, and they'll show which flight is on what plane.

If it's October 2006 (as you've indicated in your thread about a cruise), then a lot can change between now and then. It's probably too early to book right now.

CO will also be adding advanced personal video on its 757s. You may not see them at in Oct 2006, but who knows.

I punched in some dates for 10/2006. Both CO flights are showing 757 right now. But as I said, things can change.

Actually my friend just got back from the daily BA manchester to JFK and she said it was awful, seats ripped, blankets smelling of sick and no seatback TVs - even though BA had confirmed that route DEFINITLEY had seat back TVs (don't they know their own planes?)2 other people at different times told me same thing.

I may as well go Aer Lingus no frills and save us about £150 each ticket - anyone flew Man - Dublin - JFK if so, whats it like? Thanks
