Flight Help Boston/Providence to DFW

My Mom asked me to check flights for her from either Providence or Boston to Dallas/Ft Worth (DFW). I'm getting good prices (from 262 to 330), my question is about the layover I'm getting. The flights I'm seeing she would need to change planes in Atlanta or Chicago. The layover times are either over 3 hours or under an hour (one was 36 minutes). Over 3 hours would make it a very long day for her but under an hour seems like a risk for making the connection. Non stop flights are much more expensive. Any opinions? Would Atlanta be a better choice for trying to make a tight connection? TIA!

When is your Mom flying? In March, I flew non-stop RT Boston/DFW on Delta and the fare was $129 including tax, and that was only booking 10 days out.

She needs to fly out Thursday December 11 and fly back Saturday December 13th. Not the best schedule but she doesn't have any flexibility this trip. I will do some more price checks though ... a non-stop would be great.

You can do American non stop for $322.50.

Meant to say that is Providence.Boston without a Saturday night stay will be outa sight, all the way into Gooberville.

If your Mom is willing to fly on AirTran, there's a non-stop roundtrip fare for her dates for $262 including taxes.

If your Mom can stay over on Saturday night and return on Sunday, both American and Delta have non-stop roundtrip fares for $270 including taxes.

To get a better deal on the airfare, the trick is to stay over on a Saturday night.

By the way, the fares I quoted above are Boston/DFW.

Just checked Providence/DFW, and if your Mom can fly back on the 14th (Saturday) instead of the 13th, American has a non-stop roundtrip fare for $242 including taxes.

I will talk to her again about staying till Saturday but she is traveling alone and probably won't want to spend the extra night. I will check out the suggested flights, guess I didn't do enough searching. Thanks for the help!
