Flight Deals to Hawaii From Nashville?

I'm trying to find decent (something less than astronomical) airfare RT to Hilo, Big Island from Nashville after July 5th this year. It's been years since I've been and I'm out of touch with any of the usual sales or deals with which some of you may be familiar. I've checked the usual web engines as well as Delta and United. Any helpful assistance will appreciated.

What fares have you found and what price are you looking for?

kayak.com is a great search engine for looking for fares.
Sometimes there are great fares from California. If you aren't finding good direct fares, look into flights to CA (and a day or two there) and then on to Hawaii.

Delta and United both around 1250-1350+ one way from Nashville, BHM and HSV. PHX, and all along the West coast with either of those was $644-995 and up one way. I do have SWA points that could get me somewhere that has a good fare. Plus, when I try to enter points on Delta, it says it's unavailable for various dates in July.

If I could find inexpensive overnight lodging, it could make it worth it to fly from somewhere else.
SEA and SFO would be preferred as we could spend a couple days there (son in Seattle and never been to SFO - maybe even a small GTG there with some Fodorites would be a possibility ).

It's a really long flight. I've done it from Atlanta in First Class and coach. It's not so bad in FC. If splitting it up into two segments is a better deal $ wise, it's also a much more comfortable flight. As much as I'd like to return to Hawaii, the flight a big deterrent for me - since the Caribbean islands are so much closer.

I totally get what you are saying starrs. The flight is very hard on us Easterners. I'd love to visit somewhere a day or so to break it up. Just checked Kayak and the fares are better, but still over 1K. I will browse some more before deciding. Signed up for the alert. We'll see.

Allegiant Airline has flights to Honolulu 3 or 4 times a week from Las Vegas. http://www2.allegiantair.com/
Plan on flying another airline into Las Vegas the day before the Allegiant flight.
There are cheap inter island flights if you have to get to Hilo from Honolulu.

Google now has a great airfare/fligh search capacity.
