Flight Attendants Boycott Jodie Foster film

Three different unions- representing over 80,000 flight attendants - are calling for a boycott of the Jodie Foster airplane thriller.
They say Flightplan depicts airline staffers as rude and unhelpful to passengers.

LOL, so they won't be showing this as an in-flight movie, I guess

"who would think that airline staffers are unhelpfull?" How about anyone that has flown on an airline these last years, LOL.

Actually though I do feel bad for airline employees, they are all getting the short end of the stick so to speak. The "glory days" of working for an airline when it was fun and interesting is certainly gone. Anyway, the movie Flightplan sounds really interesting even though I have read pro and cons from the critics. Enjoy!!!

Flight attendants are not maids and waiters. They are safety personnel. Get over it. And for the record, we find them polite and helpful. Maybe it is all in how they are approached.

The movie producers really lucked out, getting the boycott.

The only attention it had been getting was bad reviews.

I saw it, it's not deep or anything, but entertaining I thought...the staff is only unhelpful to Jodie Foster...

So I'm thinking, based on the poor reviews, maybe this boycott was instigated by the film's marketing department?

After all "there's no such thing as bad publicity."

If I remember correctly, it really boosted ticket sales when the Columbian drug lords boycotted Traffic a few years ago!

I saw the film - it was actually better than I thought it would be, although somewhat unbelievable. Lots of interesting shots inside the cargo belly of a jumbo jet. Without disclosing the plot, I don't think it put flight attendants in a bad light considering the circumstances in the film.

I agree with zootsi. As we know from the trailer, the FA's had reason to believe she was a threat to the safety of the flight. I saw the movie and I didn't think they were portrayed badly.

I thought the movie was okay. I thought the portrayal of flight attendants was pretty much in keeping with my experience with flight attendants. Good and bad. Attitude and not. Etc. Etc.
