Is the flamingo hotel kid friendly? I saw some weekday rates for August around 90 dollars and thought was nice. Is that a good price?
(I have a 3 year old kid)

It depends. Kids might like the animals, and the pools are great (but not particularly kid-friendly in my opinion because it's kind of a party scene, though nothing like the Venetian).

Look, it's a relatively cheap hotel (breakfast is expensive, though), and it's very centrally located, but the pools aren't as kid-friendly as the more elaborate, contemporary ones at Mirage or Mandalay Bay. Even there, a lot of people won't like the drunken frat-boy atmosphere, as many posts on these boards will attest.

LV is not particularly kid-friendly in any way. You want to get away from the Strip to find a better atmosphere.

How about circus-circus or Orleans?

We've not stayed at Flamingo so can't comment (though the pool gets good reviews), but I would pick Bally's or Paris over Circus Circus or Orleans. The pools at both are nice and about as kid friendly as Vegas gets. FYI- Mandalay Bay has a wave pool

Circus Circus is not as good a hotel as the Flamingo. Frankly, if you insist on staying on or near the Strip, I'd stick with that. The better options for families are in Lake Las Vegas or Henderson (Red Rock Resort, Green Valley Ranch, or Ritz-Carlton being the best choices).

The Flamingo has very poor ventilation and I would not recommend this facility for a three year old. We were there last week with a smoker who could not tolerate the cigarette smoke. Vegas = INSIDE Cigarette Smoke (cigar bars as well if you like). I would stay somewhere like the Bellagio or other facilities that are higher end with fantastic ventilation systems where the smoke never bothered me at all.

The Flamingo has no lobby to speak of, no chairs, or theme to look at – just a big registration area that s-l-o-w-l-y processes the masses. There is nothing to do at the Flamingo but shop (limited), gamble, drink, and eat. The frat-boys we saw were from the 1930’s, seriously sad poorer gamblers…

The pool was a hit with my four twenty something’s which is why I picked this facility since I needed three rooms which we were not going to be in very often due to unrelated to Vegas events.

Staying on the strip is not a must. I hope we can drive to the strip and can get parking easily (we will be there wednesday-thursday) to walk around and get a feel of the different attractions.

Also, we are not going to use the pool while we are there.
