Flamingo Hotel?
 

Has anyone stayed at the Flamingo Hotel before in Vegas? I've been quite a few times, usually stay at the MGM, looking for something new....

Well, new the Flamingo is not. New to you, sure . . .

And of course lots of people have stayed there, but for the most reviews, check out www.tripadvisor.com

If you're looking for something specific, let us know. You didn't really ask a question, other than whether people have stayed there. What do you want to know?

Flamingo or not, where to stay on the strip for one night with a group of kids. Is it possible to get a suite mid -week January for a reasonable price. Any suggestions?

Yes, I have stayed at the Flamingo in July, 2002. The location was great, but did care for the out dated rooms, the crammed packed smokey casino, the maze to find the correct elevators to our room, the line to check-in/check-out, the overly crowded pool area with ice cold water, the unfriendly staff and the terrible buffet.

We have stayed at other hotels that we liked better; Tropicana, Stardust, Riveria, and will be going back next month and staying at the Imperial Palace for the first time.

We went through the Flamingo this past July and they have taken out their Keno lounge. So no reason to go back again. However, we really did enjoy Margaritaville and will go back and eat there again.

Last October we stayed in the North Wing in a very nice renovated room. Nice, clean, big, we liked it.
Only the view was a little disappointing.
Next time we will stay there again.

The Flamingo is old old old and not very user friendly. If you get my drift.

I get your drift, now where else on the strip can one get a nice room for a large group or do I need to spring for a seperate room (2 adults and 3 teenagers. Can a suite accomodate this group?

Check trip advisor for the Flamingo. I stayed there in December and was well satisfied. ALL rooms have been renovated. Check in at the airport for fast check in. Get to the hotel and go directly to your room. Location is the best in Vegas.
It's not the Wynn or Venetian or Bellagio but the price is definetly worth it. Large and clean rooms. I stay there frequently.

We stayed at the FLamingo last year (before renovations) and we'd stay there again. The price, location, pool were all just fine. What was especially convenient was the airport check in. Took us 10 minutes. When we got to the hotel the line to check in was atrocious. I'll bet people waited in line over an hour.

Thanks for the tips! I will take your advice and check in at the airport. How do you get your key to check in? Is it a counter or a computer? Pretty cool!

I believe it was the card type of key. It was so convenient that if I go to Vegas again, I'll probably stay at a Ceasar's hotel just because of this convenience. (Flamingo, Ballys, and a few others are all "Ceasar" hotels.)

I stayed at the Flamingo last year in a newly renovated room. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The furniture and bedding appeared to be brand new. The location of the Flamingo cannot be beat and, as stated, you can check in at the airport to avoid the long check-in lines. I would stay there again. I have also stayed at Mandalay Bay, Paris and Treasure Island in Las Vegas. The Flamingo was fine. The only thing lacking in the room was a fancy bathroom - otherwise, I had no complaints.

The hotel is fine. As others have said, you can't beat the location. I think it's the best one of all the "cheaper" Strip hotels.

Aren't all the Strip hotels like that?????

We like the Monte Carlo, very nice and usually can find reasonable prices; very user friendly with elevator banks all in one place.

Have you considered staying dowtown? After many, many trips to LV, I've given up on the strip. Table minimums are high and the distance between venues is too far in the heat or the cold.

Rates are very reasonable downtown - 4 Queens and Golden Nugget are my favorites.

Of course, I'm usually there for the $2-$5 Craps tables - it may not be the highest priority on your list. heh.

My husband and I stayed there last July and will definitely stay there again. All rooms had been renovated and the casino smoke was not as bad as expected. Very comfortable hotel. A plus is the beautiful pool area. We got there early afternoon and were able to get lounge chairs. As folks would leave, we would "upgrade" to chairs closer to the pool. The pool was comfortable even in the 120 degree heat last July. It was cool, but not cold. I was afraid the pool would have been warm. A great place to stay at a mid-range price. Monte Carlo is also good. Another trip we stayed in Aladdin. Nice room, but didnt like the pool as much.

We stayed there in Feb of 04. Our room had been redone and it was very nice. The pool was of course closed so I can't comment on that but the check in line was, to say the least the worst I had ever seen. We waited 1hr 45 min to check in and this was at 2AM!! I would hate to see it at a more reasonable time of day.
